Many phases in our life are tough to survive, but it is important at times like these to remember that there are many things to be grateful for in your life. Yes, life is not perfect, but it is very important to feel grateful for things we do have in our life. Things that we are lucky to be surrounded with and we need to cherish.

It goes without saying that one of the first things to be grateful for is family. Family is above everything, and it is so important in life not to take them for granted. So in this world and time, it is crucial to be grateful to be surrounded by family as they are the only ones who take by you through thick and thin.

2. Friends

Life in schools and colleges is unbearable without friends; they become your companion for years. And sometimes, if we get lucky, friends turn into family. Having good friends in your life is really something to be grateful for in your life.

3. Pets

This little being around you is like a ray of sunshine. Your pet loves you unconditionally, literally. To have someone in your life who wants nothing from you but still sees you as their everything is amazing.

4. Health

Being fit and being able to do whatever you want without any restrictions is of utmost importance. Good health is something people pray for every day, and it is something to be very grateful for if you have a healthy body and a healthy mind.

5. Home

Home is your safe place; to have a roof over your head is one of the things to be grateful for in your life. To have a place to return to after your work and relax is a feeling that goes unexplained.

6. Spouse or Your Better Half

Having a loved one in your life, a healthy relationship and the feeling of being in love with your partner brings you butterflies with just the thought of it. Relationships should never be taken for granted; to have a person in your life who loves you and wants to be with you through all the ups and downs is always a dream come true and to be cherished every single day. Having a better half is definitely one of the things to be grateful for in your life.

7. Education

The opportunity to receive education in today’s world, to have a degree or a diploma is very lucky. To have been under such experienced people teaching you and preparing you for the world is a huge opportunity that goes without saying. It is truly something to be grateful for if you have had this beautiful opportunity in your life.

8. Good Sleep

A good rest does wonders for you, doesn’t it? I am a huge fan of good sleep; it is definitely my favorite part of the day. I’ll eternally be grateful for good sleep, and it is something that an individual should also be grateful for if he receives a good night’s sleep in comfort in his bed. It is not a small thing.

9. Food

Where are my foodies at? Right? To eat meals, that too good meals every single day in your life is not to be taken lightly. If you are lucky, you get to eat different cuisines, dishes, and isn’t that something to be grateful for? To have such luxury in life is, in my opinion, a very lucky thing.

10. Nature

Nature is one of the things to be grateful for in your life. To have trees, plants, greenery, flowers makes you happy.

11. Restaurants

I love restaurants. Period. The aura, the sitting, the dishes, the dessert, what is there not to love? I count my blessings every time I am in a restaurant.

12. Rainbow

I think it won’t matter even when I turn 50; I will always get excited when I look at a rainbow. When you think of rainbows, your mind automatically associates them with happiness, happy thoughts, happy colors, and it always brings a smile to your face. Rainbows are for sure one of the things to be grateful for in our life.

13. Rain

Rain is music to my ears and that fragrance you get when it hits the sand, right?

14. Snow

Snow fights. Snow angels. Hot chocolate. Blankets. Grateful.

15. Music

There are so many benefits to hearing music. Plus, it gives you the energy to work out or get your work done or clean your house. Music helps in everything, and there is music for every mood in this world. Isn’t that wow when you think about it? Some lyrics are so relatable that it sometimes seems like this is the story of my life. Fun fact: There is a hit song named “The Story Of My Life.”

16. Internet

Internet is by far in today’s age one of the most important things to be grateful for. There is nothing in this world that is not a click away. You have your books, music, games, videos, and solution to everything in this entire world. You can connect to a person sitting on another continent now because of the internet. It is one of the most powerful inventions by humanity, in my view. It has definitely made my life a lot easier, and I guess yours too.

17. Coffee

It is holy water to many, and I am not exaggerating. I don’t know who invented coffee, but I thank that guy every morning.

18. Liberty

To live in a world at this time where you have the right by birth to have liberty seems small. But it is crucial to think about the time when people didn’t have such a basic right. They had to fight for this so that today we could have the liberty to do whatever we want. It is definitely one of the things to be grateful for in your life.

19. Books

It is a different universe altogether when you get into a good book. Your imagination is put on its job. You give those characters a face, and you visualize everything on your own. It is said that reading fiction especially makes you feel empathy in your life. To have such great literature in your life, from all over the globe in all languages, sure comes in my list of things to be grateful for.

20. Netflix

It had to be on my list; I couldn’t help it. There is not even a single day that goes by without Netflix, which has become my best friend. I am a huge binge watcher, and I am definitely a person who lives the “Netflix and chill” life.


Other things that could have been on my list are date nights, future opportunities, the future family you might have one day, vacations, your children or grandchildren, movies, theater, parks, zoos, picnics, and whatnot.

My list of things to be grateful for in life could go on and on. Every little thing in life has its own importance. Things I listed above, maybe not everything implies on everybody. But these are the lessons to be learned; you need to be thankful for the life you have to be happy.

To feel the gratitude of the things you already own makes you self-sufficient in this busy competitive world where we live; you need everything you can have to make you stronger. There are books about gratitude, quotes about gratitude. Feeling thankful in this day and age is a trait that is so important to hold onto.

It helps you be a happy person with positive thoughts and motivates you to live your life. It spares you from the pressures of the world, the show-off, the need to match other people’s levels. Every person has different resources, backgrounds, and circumstances in their life. Feeling gratitude for the things you already have is very important to lead a fuller, richer life.
