Emma Watson – Intellectually Beautiful
Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, has made it to the “100 Most Influential People” by Time Magazine. This honor was granted to Watson for her HeForShe campaign, which focuses on feminist activism. Watson’s campaign is unique because it holds men and women responsible for gender equality. According to the actress, feminism is defined as “the theory of the sexes’ political, economic and social equality.” She is an activist and an award-winning actress, and a humanitarian for women and young girls worldwide.
Watson was nine years old when she auditioned eight times for the part of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter. Throughout the eight movies in the franchise, Watson has been nominated for three Academy Awards and seven British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. When Watson was 15, she was featured on the cover of Vogue magazine; she was the youngest celebrity to do so. This incredibly talented woman was also listed among the top-paid actresses. She believes in education for girls in third world countries, equal rights as a human right, and she is definitely an extraordinary woman. In 2019, Watson was appointed to a G7 advisory for women’s rights. She also advocates for sustainable fashion and has recently joined the board of directors of Kering, a luxury brand group.
Watson earned a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor and a Best Supporting Actor Award at the San Diego Film Critics Society Awards for her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. She has also received innumerable awards for her exceptional acting in the Harry Potter movies. She embodied Hermione’s character and inspired many young girls through her acting. Later on, we also saw her in movies that were based on Disney fairytales.
Watson has a widespread social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, which she uses to voice her opinions about women’s rights and equality. We can all learn a thing or two from her about using social media for a good cause.
She is heavily involved in promoting girls’ education, has been to Bangladesh and Zambia as part of her humanitarian efforts. Emma promoted fair trade, organic clothing and was an ambassador for Camfed International, a crusade that educates girls in rural Africa. The United Nations named her the Woman Goodwill Ambassador. In 2016, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Watson set up rap in honor of International Women’s Day. She also supports J.K Rowling’s charity Lumos and beatboxes for women’s rights. (Her way of expressing gender equality)
Watson gave a speech before the U.N. supporting her HeForShe Campaign that went viral and has maintained that she is a critical advocate for gender equality. She spoke about how the HeForShe campaign has impacted her. Men from every country in the world have joined this campaign. The HeForShe campaign has launched its 10x10x10 campaign for larger groups such as universities, businesses, and even governments. It is time to make a complete commitment to achieving gender equality. She has also given a petition signed by 4,000 people to the parliament of Uruguay requesting that women be allowed greater political participation.
We are thoroughly inspired by the ripple effects of Emma Watson’s feminist agenda. We hope that young women and men of Hollywood will continue to use their power to fight for gender equality and other human rights.
