1. How Did Squidward Die in SpongeBob SquarePants?
The episode begins with Squidward being constantly annoyed by SpongeBob and Patrick while practicing playing his clarinet for an upcoming concert. After reprimanding them, he is yet again interrupted, this time by a bagpipe-playing fish with blood-red eyes who ominously announces the arrival of something called the “Red Mist” in a deep voice. The screen starts glitching and turns red.
The camera cuts to a new scene where Squidward is maliciously booed by the audience, including SpongeBob and Patrick, which is so unlike them, while playing his clarinet at the concert. The screen glitches violently again, accompanied by some ghostly sound effects.
Unable to accept the fact that the audience booed him, he visibly breaks down, and the episode ends with the fictional character taking his own life with a shotgun.
The constant glitching, disturbed audio and video, the blood-red eyes with almost realistic blood dripping, and the disturbing imagery of Squidward with glowing red eyes and dripping black tears made this lost episode feel more like something from a nightmare than a lighthearted kid’s show.
2. The Creepypasta Story Titled Squidward’s Suicide
This popular Creepypasta involves a controversial bootleg tape of the SpongeBob SquarePants series called the “Red Mist,” which is said to have been created by a presently incarcerated animator.
This Creepypasta is narrated by Chaz Agnew, supposedly the sole surviving intern from the team that originally viewed the tape. The tape was said to have been watched by animators, editors, and another 16-year-old intern.
The intern stated that the episode with Squidward’s death originates from Fife, Scotland, and the team initially assumed they had received the initial animation of the storyboards for the fourth season’s premiere episode titled “Fear of a Krabby Patty, “and received the infamous tape in its stead.
The title card for the episode reads “Squidward’s Suicide.” Although puzzled at first, they continued watching as they assumed it was some kind of usual morbid joke among the team.
The tape consisted of very bizarre scenes and oddities, along with the extremely disturbing addition of very gore pictures of two children violently killed.
The show’s production team initially thought this was some morbid joke by an anonymous user, but soon discovered that this anonymous user might have been a criminal.
It is said that after viewing the video clip, the four animators were hospitalized, one of the editors retired, and one intern committed suicide.
The police allegedly received the tape after which they concluded that it was made by Scottish animator Andrew Skinner from Fife. Nine counts of murder, including the killing of the two kids seen on the tape, were brought against him.
Although there is strong evidence supporting the existence of the missing episode, the likelihood that the creepypasta in question is accurate is in doubt because it has been claimed that no one knows what happened and that no inquiry has been effective in light of the photographs’ ominous character.
The youngsters on the tape were never recognized since not enough information could be gleaned from the material. Thus, it is claimed that the entire situation is still very mysterious.

The trend involves fans of the popular program searching “how did Squidward die” and sharing their reactions to the shocking and upsetting contents of the long-lost SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Squidward’s Suicide,” also known as “Red Mist,” in which the anthropomorphic octopus character is seen shooting himself in the head with a shotgun.
Most of these traumatized reactions are accompanied by a soundtrack uploaded by a user named “AnitiNightcore.”
Apart from this lost episode, there is no other episode that mentions or refers to anything indicating Squidward’s death throughout the 13 seasons of Nickelodeon’s actual SpongeBob SquarePants TV series.
4. Three Terrifying Lost Episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants
4.1 Patrick’s Leg
The episode begins with Patrick and SpongeBob sandboarding, Patrick tries to do a trick and ends up falling and losing his leg, and let out a shrill, disturbing scream.
Patrick ends up in a wheelchair, and the girls keep wanting to sign his cast, upsetting SpongeBob, who later sneaks into Patrick’s house and asks him not to meet up with those girls again Patrick and SpongeBob end up fighting.
Patrick tells SpongeBob he hates him, and SpongeBob starts beating Patrick’s injured leg, but the dialogue and animation don’t match up at this point, and the screen cuts to Patrick playing with Jeffrey’s jellyfish before going black once again.
Before everything goes black and the sound of static begins to grow louder and louder, the screen cuts to a skin-crawling scene of CG animation of Patrick cutting up SpongeBob with realistic blood coming out of him and SpongeBob laughing hysterically.
4.2 SpongeBob Schizophrenia
This episode was found on a VHS tape at the Nickelodeon office and had no title card; it was just labeled “season 10 premiere.” The episode opens with SpongeBob at his home in the dark and saying to himself, “The shadows play with me.”
SpongeBob then proceeds to pull out his handgun and shoot his pet, Gary. SpongeBob then sneaks into Squidward’s house and cuts him up with a chainsaw and proceeds to kill Patrick with a pencil, and the episode ends with SpongeBob killing himself.
4.3 Sandy’s Revenge
This bizarre episode begins with a depressed SpongeBob standing outside Sandy’s door and knocking; Sandy answers the door with an equally depressed demeanor and lets him in after thanking him for coming.
Just as he is about to say something, Sandy attacks him and strangles him to death, and the footage progresses to show Sandy tying up SpongeBob’s dead body to a wooden board and throwing it out of the house before proceeding to maliciously destroy her house.
The video clip cuts to Squidward lying on the ground and suddenly waking up and charging at Sandy, who holds him and chokes him to death.
