A. What Will You Need?

  • Ribbons
  • Scissor
  • Tree toppers(optional) 
  • Floral wire
  • Wire cutters

3.1. Making Bow

i. Start Making a Big Bow

To make a Christmas tree topper, pull 6 inches of wired ribbon from the spindle and pinch it tightly between the thumb and forefinger of your right hand.

Pull some more ribbon from the spindle with your other hand and form a loop.

Join your hands together and scrunch up the bottom of the loop and the rest of the ribbon between the fingers of your hand. Twist the pinched ribbon and secure the final loop.

ii. Make Figure Eight

Take some more ribbon from the spindle with one hand. Form a loop of excess ribbon that is in the opposite direction from the first loop.

Add the bottom of the other loop to the pinched ribbon in our hand, twist it clockwise, and hold it still in one place. Both loops should form in the shape of eight to make a bow.

iii. Fill Out Your Bow

Make more alternate loops until the bow is complete. Ten circles will be enough for a beautiful bow, it’s up to you how big the bow you want. 

iv. Make a Middle Loop

After making all the loops, make a last loop in a standing position to the other loops for the perfect tree topper bow. Then pinch them and twist them just like you have done with others.

v. Tie the Loops Together

Make a piece of wire into a “u” shape. Put the loose ends and loops into the main middle loop and bend them in the base of the bow. Pull all the loops through the “u” part made earlier.

Pull the ends in the opposite direction and make a tight knot.

Twist the ends of the wire nicely to secure the fastening of the Christmas bow. Take another piece of wire and use it to tie the bow to the Christmas tree.

3.2. Making the Streamers

i. Start With Cutting Some Ribbon 

Cut some strands of ribbon and put them together and decide which will be the bottom of the ribbon fold them half and using scissors make a diagonal cut nicely at the tails.

When you unfold the streamers, there will be an upside-down V shape. Repeat the same step with all other streamers.

ii. Fasten the Streamers To the Tree

Take some wire and wrap that on the top of one of the streamers and make a tight connection between them. Then wrap the leftover wire to tie the streamers to the tree just under your tree topper bow.

Twist the wire around the branch so that it stays in place. Repeat this step with all other streamers.

iii. Make Waves in Streamers

Take scissors and with one side of that and put it on the end of the streamer and stretch the one hand of the scissor along the streamer and it will come out a beautiful swirl wave.

Another wave is placing a paper towel roll under the ribbon and unwrinkling the rest of the tail. Make as many waves as you want to make.

iv. Secure the Streamers at Their Place 

Tie the streamers to branches of the tree and make sure they are securely attached to the tree bow, and the bow tree topper itself.

Type 2:

A. Materials Needed How to Make a Christmas Tree Bow

  • Decorative mesh Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners or wires
  • Wire cutters

1. Cutting the Ribbon to Make Loops

Cut the mesh ribbon twice that length, the length will depend on the size and length of the bow you want to make and the height of the tree.

2. Create a Bow From the Loop

Hold the on the end of the loop. and make the bow and bring it back to the centre to create the first loop of your bow. This is the main loop that determines the size of the bow.

Attach the loop with a pipe cleaner to hold the loop in place.

3. Make More Loops to Fill Up 

Repeat the same process to make more loops on both sides of the centre loop. Now keep making loops by increasing their size as you move away from the central loop in the centre.

Make at least 6-7 loops like this to make a full and voluminous bow.

4. Secure the Loop 

Once you finished making loops, secure the ends off with another pipe cleaner at the centre of the tree topper bow again.

5. Trim Ends 

Trim the ends of the ribbon as you like. You can cut diagonally to create V-shaped tails or any other design you prefer.

6. Attach the Bow to Ribbon

To tie the Christmas tree bow topper and ribbon together on the Christmas tree, either use pipe cleaners attached to the Christmas tree bow topper and twist them around the top branch of your Christmas tree.
