Q)For all the people who are very hesitant to pursue what they want or struggle to make it, what would you like to say?
Nivi- Well first of all one should never think that theyโll never be able to do it because there is a saying that what you think is what you actually become.
If you keep saying to yourself that โI cannot do thisโ or โIโll probably never do thisโ, then you might not be able to do it. If you keep putting all those words in your head then youโll not become who you want to become.
Put positive messages saying that you will do it and you will take the necessary steps. That will help achieve your goal. I think not only just saying that you want it to come true but also actually trying and taking steps to achieve it is very important.
If youโre able to answer these questions about yourself then you can achieve anything you want. Not everything is gonna go our way and not giving up in that process is what we all need to know and have. If you see big stars and artist, they were able to sustain themselves and come out of any situation even with all their obstacles and i think that is really important.
Kiran- You canโt achieve anything without facing failure. Obviously there is a solution for everything but if youโre feeling stuck in a particular part of your life or if you feel suffocated.
I think thereโs always this one door which sets you free from these problems. Just having that thought in your head will keep you going and maybe you would get your solution by thinking from a different angle.
Q) Usually artists make song based on a backstory or they would definitely have some story behind the song. Where do you draw ideas for your songs?
Niviโ Some of our greatest hits were โCalculated Loveโ and โEight billion peopleโ. โCalculated loveโ captured many hearts. The thought just drew from a fun idea. We thought what if we mix Love and Math, thatโs how that song was done and โEight Billion Peopleโ has melody that weaves a narrative, encapsulating moments of joy, heartbreak, or reflection.
Its a beautiful concept where there are eight billion people in the world but at the end of the day we still feel lonely. It portrays how we crave for ordinary things in life like a search for our companion and one day we find our person.
Q) You have collaborated with lot of famous artists like Jason Derulo. How was that experience?
Kiranโ I think this happened in the year 2021. Jason Derulo was something we did not expect. He messaged us on a random day and asked if we can collab.
So we then had to travel to LA and we shot a music video. It was super cool and we met a lot of people and got to experience many things. He was so welcoming and we made this new track where we mixed Indian Carnatic Style with one of his music.
We loved trying new experiments where we use our swarams with pop songs. When we started posting these videos on Tik-Tok we thought nobody would understand or notice it but in a few days it had millions of views. Surprisingly it worked out super well.
Obviously it was overwhelming, you know the response that we had because there was this hint of our Indian culture we mixed that everyone loved so that really meant a lot to us .Waking up one day and then suddenly you become viral. Sounds like these things could happen only in dreams. But I think we definitely made it
Q) What was the hardest thing you had to go through in the aspect of learning ?
Kiranโ Weโve been learning music since five years old but we both couldnโt speak like a normal two year old before that. So our mom took us to a speech therapist and we started our music by singing Sai bhajans.
For a long time nothing was just working out but I think our mom had a lot of faith and hope in us and in god. After many weeks we started singing with the rhythm and beats and everything started to make sense.
That is how our journey started and they put us through Carnatic lessons and months later we started speaking normally. For us music is a miracle.
Although these two extremely talented souls have issues from the beginning they saw each challenge as an opportunity to grow. Their inspiring journey and stories creates a space for us to believe in ourselves and keep doing whatever we aspire to become.
Their song โ8 billion peopleโ portrays the beauty of how there are eight billion people in the world but you still feel lonely. The creativity and origins for their songs are beyond just music but also serves as a reminder to cherish things while they last.
