Natashya Phillips Coutinho is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Luke Coutinho Holistic Healing Systems Pvt. Ltd. Ever since her childhood, she had the willingness to learn and try new things which enabled her to analyze different business prospects and growth strategies.
Natashya Phillips Coutinho always had a passion for wellness. This passion helped her to pursue the field of wellness, professionally. Initially, she worked as an aerobic instructor in 3 gyms in Pune, Maharashtra, and later went into the telemarketing sector where she was a soft skills trainer.
She has trained employees of reputed companies across the globe which include cities in North America and Europe. In her conversation with Icy Tales, Natashya Phillips Coutinho opened up about her journey towards pursuing wellness, her experience while working in different fields along with some information on Luke Coutinho Holistic Healing Systems Pvt. Ltd.
Q) Tell us something about your passion for wellness and why did you choose it as your career?
Natashya Phillips Coutinho: I feel like, this has chosen me. I never thought that it would grow into where I am today. But my passion is being able to use my strengths perfectly. What I love about being in this role is that it allows me to use my strengths to the best of my capacity.
Passion comes with great feedback and testimonials, right? Since we’re dealing with people with medical conditions, when you get feedback from someone saying that they’ve been on medication for the last two years and then they send you a picture of their medicines which can now be chucked out because they don’t need it anymore; that gives me happiness. When we hear back from people about how we’ve been able to help them and how the team has done such a great job, everything about my profession becomes meaningful.
Q) You have worked as an aerobics instructor in gyms. So what is the importance of physical training along with its relevance to mental wellness?
Natashya Phillips Coutinho: For me as an individual, I do my fair share of physical training; weights, muscle building, and toning along with my mental training. There are yoga and other breathing exercises which help you in mental wellness.
But in my opinion, it is definitely about my mental wellness. Nothing makes me happier than, a good run with some music. That boost of energy I get when I’ve had a great workout is both mental and physical training. For example, yesterday I was really tired and in the evening I had a badminton game. My trainer made me climb 13 floors up to my house. He forced me to walk up the stairs and while I was so tired, at the end of it I was just so full of energy.
So for me, physical wellness is about my mental wellness too. I think it takes me to a happy place and gives me all the happy hormones that get created when you do good exercise. They’re both very intimate; I don’t think it’s just one or the other, but they support each other.
Q) Tell us something about your venture, Luke Coutinho Holistic Healing Systems Pvt. Ltd.
Natashya Phillips Coutinho: We like to call ourselves Team Luke because the name of our venture is so long. Our venture began with Luke, my husband’s vision multiple years ago. It started with Luke consulting one client and then our online base went from one to two, then 50, and eventually 200 clients.
We have about 140 people that work with us and give us all the support that we need to run a large company. We have accounting processes, digital and social media marketing, financing, and a whole recruitment team. So we have a really good support team as well that supports us in everything we do.
What we do in terms of our day-to-day work is that we have various clients that come to us for their physical solutions wherein we try to support them in the best way possible. A lot of people think that we are an alternative source of medication and we need to do only need to do a nutrition plan. But that’s not what we do. We support our clients with their existing medication.
We also try and focus on finding the root cause of the problem because by understanding the root cause, we might be able to help them, not just temporarily but to help them get rid of that issue as well. We also focus on sleep patterns, exercise, food, and a person’s emotional state of mind as well.
Q) In today’s world, nightlife and eateries are growing which has led people to eat out on a large scale. From this perspective, how do you think lifestyle will influence health?
Natashya Phillips Coutinho: Nightlife exists but that is something that has always existed. I feel like there’s a time and place for everything. 15 years ago, I could have slept late and woken up the next day still wanting to work. But I can’t do it right now because I’m not in that space currently. So it’s about where you are in life at the moment.
It’s all about balance and priorities at the end of the day. If you want to have a late night once in a while, there’s no harm in that. Life is all about having fun, meeting people, and doing the things that you like, right? So if going out makes you happy, then just do it.
As long as they have a balance of it and they’re not overdoing it, there’s no problem at all. This is important because sometimes, this can also take a toll on your sleep, exercise, and eating habits. It’s also about each individual’s priority. My priority is to sleep well so that I wake up and I’m in a good mood because I have an eight-year-old who wakes up very early in the morning full of energy and I want to be able to have that energy to match it for. Everything in life is enjoyable as long as it’s in balance and moderation.
Q) You have worked with reputed companies and trained teams in different countries. So what gives you the power to keep going?
Natashya Phillips Coutinho: I love having something to do; I’m not someone who can just sit idle. In every aspect and in every field that I’ve worked in, I always learn new things. And I like keeping myself busy so it’s not like I need motivation or something to keep me going.
As long as I have something to look forward to, I am pumped up. I want to make sure that I am adding value to my life in some way and that I am using my strengths to the best of my ability. It’s not like work has to be fun, there are days when work can be monotonous but as long as I’m busy, I’m happy. I’ve always worked from a very young age, so I don’t like being idle.
I like to have like some kind of focus on things. I do my work during the weekdays and when it’s the weekend, I want that break to do something fun. Each of the roles that I have played, has made me the person I am today.
