Pros and cons of being single

We live in a society where people believe and insist that one must have a partner with whom they can live happily ever after. We watch romantic movies, read romantic novels or look at all the lovely couples having a great time together and then think that we can only have fun if we have a loving partner with us.

I agree that a partner can really make you happy but being single is not a punishment either. You can be happy even if you are single. Now that we have established that being single is awesome, let me tell you that it may have some negatives.

Here are some of the pros and cons of being single:

The Pros of being single:

Freedom:

You are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, and with whoever you want. Being in a relationship you have to live your partner’s life more than your own. You have to make all your decisions after considering them.

On contrary, when you are single, you can enjoy road trips with your friends, you don’t have to ask anyone before wearing or doing anything. You don’t have to feel constrained by relationships.

Time for yourself:

You hardly give your family and friends time because your partner loves to spend quality time just with you. If you are single, you are lucky because you won’t waste your time fighting, searching for gifts, trying to live life according to your partner, etc. You can use your free time in planning out your job, life and reviving your relations with family and friends. You can also enhance your creativity, join hobby classes or treat yourself for nothing.

No emotional dramas:

When you are in a relationship, you always want to keep it intact. To achieve that you have to take care of your partner’s emotions and often ignore your own wishes. In fact, many lovers spent restless nights if something goes wrong with their partner.

When you’re not in a relationship, you have the freedom to enjoy your life to fullest. If you are one of those, who believe in living life according to your own terms, either find the most understanding partner or live a single life and live life like a king.

More money in your pocket:

Being in a relationship is expensive. Candle light dinners, movies, mini-vacations, and valentine gifts add up to a significant amount of cash. Save this money towards something that betters you in the long run.

The Cons of being single

Having to do everything yourself:

Having to do everything for yourself can get really really annoying. You are tired, hungover and a fry won’t make itself. It’s hard not to have someone who you can nicely ask to get fries for you.

You miss having a romantic connection with someone:

It’s hard not to be in a relationship when you have needs and enjoy being in a relationship. If you’re a person that loves being in a relationship and feel as if you need and enjoy life more while in a relationship, then single life can be torturous.

Often feel left out:

Feeling left out can be a big issue. Growing to a certain age in your life and seeing all your friends in relationships and getting married can be really, really tough.

After going through both the pros and cons of being single, it is your choice to live the single life or get into a relationship.

Would you rather be single or have a lovely partner?
