The authorities have asked people to stay indoors as heavy rains are expected to continue. Waves crashed violently against the shore of the Juhu Beach and roads leading to and away from the beach are deserted.  There have been many incidents of houses collapsing, trees getting uprooted, people and vehicles getting stranded and many more. There are many agencies that have come out to help the people. Celebrities have been tweeting continuously requesting people to be safe and stay indoors. “Guys please be careful”, posted Parineeti Chopra. “Watching the rains from my window all day. I am praying for your safety and health in this downpour” tweeted, Dilip Kumar. Deepika Padukone tweeted “While I do this, alerts showing up on my phone about the rains in Mumbai. The Government has also been taking drastic measures to protect Mumbaikars. Maharashtra Parliamentary Affairs Minister Girish Bapat has opened up his official residence to people who are stranded in South Mumbai. Actor Govind Namdev gave umbrellas and raincoats to beggars on the streets of Mumbai who were stranded and had nowhere to go.

“It will get worse before it gets better” is apt for Mumbai. The rains have been lashing out on this city, but according to reports, the worst is almost over. The rains are supposed to continue for the next 48 hours but with less intensity. It will take a lot of effort and time for the city to get back up but we are confident that with the help of the people and the officials, the city will get back to normal in no time.

Stay strong Mumbai.
