From waking up in the morning with a #GoodMorning Selfie on Instagram to dozing off at night with a #LifeisGood post on Facebook, we don’t even realize how much time, energy and money we are spending on keeping up with the social media. Social media is no longer a part of the lifestyle, it has turned into THE lifestyle. A day without wifi seems like a day without hope, internet connection for certain class of the society is no less a necessity that the basic ‘Food, Clothes, and Shelter’. It has gotten to a point it can be very aptly termed as an addiction, and addiction of anything can not be healthy.

The first thing you do after waking up in the morning is checking your Facebook and Instagram newsfeed. You have no care in the world what the person sleeping next to you or in the next room is up to, but it is very important for you to know what you friend from high school, who you have not met in person for years had for breakfast, and what your co-worker thinks about the weather today.
You can not indulge in a fancy meal without taking a picture of it and posting it on Instagram, no matter how hungry you are. Of course, a tasty meal would not remain a tasty meal unless you have shared a picture of it with your followers.
Every place you go, it is a protocol for you to check in on social media. Did you go to Starbucks to get yourself some coffee? How insensitive would it be if your friends didn’t know?
You think it’s worse than an apocalypse when you don’t have access to the Internet.
Social media is not a bad thing, in fact it is one of the most helpful tools of all time, connecting us to our friends and family with just one touch, and in some cases re-uniting us with some long lost friends. But what needs to be understood is, an excess of anything is bad. Social Media is a part of life, a good pat; let’s not make it the only part of our life.
