According to this Navajo Skin Walker Lore, certain creatures can change their shape and form into whatever they want. The word Skin walker is defined by a term in Navajo โYee naaldlooshiiโ which means that it goes on its fours by all means.ย Some people claim that they arenโt simply a different type of animal but evil Navajo Witches that contain the power of shape-shifting which means that they can also take human form and animal form.
Navajo Skinwalker tales believe that these are shamans/healers or medicine men that belonged to a secret society. They took part in forbidden evil rituals and tried to open a doorway to another realm. The Sightings of Skin walker has been around since the very beginning, But everything stirred up after the Sherman family moved into the Skinwalker Ranch. Their paranormal experience and some supernatural factors led them and others to believe in the existence of Skin Walker. Interestingly even in Modern times, these creatures match the old depiction told in many stories.
4) Skin Walker Ranchย
There are over 2 million farms and ranches in America as of 2019. Most of them are unknown but some of them have made their names unforgettable and shall remain highlighted in the history of mankind, one of them is the Skinwalker Ranch.
The things that usually come across a personโs mind after hearing about this ranch are Ufo Sightings, Humanoid creatures, immortal wolves, ghosts, cattle mutilations, paranormal activities, etc but this raises the question, what happened in a place that left this impression on people? What made this place one of the most paranormal places on Earth? To find out Letโs take a quick look at its history.
4.1) History of Ownership of Skinwalker Ranchย
The Skinwalker Ranch (also called the Sherman Ranch) is in Utah. The land has mysterious deep roots, in the beginning, it was occupied by other tribes, namely Archaic and Fremont tribes, after the Ute Tribe took over. Later in 1776, as per a native American writer, the area was traveled by Europeans who witnessed weird creatures in animal forms.
Later on, the land was owned by the Myers Family for approximately 60 years but in 1994, they sold the land to the Sherman family. The Ranch became famous only after the Sherman family moved in. Shermanโs family resided there for just 2 years, then sold the Ranch to a billionaire, River Bigelow.
The land caught his interest due to his curiosity and dedication to Paranormal activities and other related phenomena. He wanted to study and experience things that the Sherman family claimed.
Bigelow owned the area for the next 20 years to investigate it thoroughly with his research team, abbreviated as NIDS. However, without any new information to offer, in 2016, Bigelow sold the land to another company that goes by the name โAdamantium real estate.โ The interesting thing about this company is that they restricted the whole property, shut down the roads that led to the ranch, and built a barrier of wire around the perimeter.
The company didnโt stop at that; they also went through the trouble of trademarking the word โ Skinwalker Ranchโ in 2018. Later on, in 2020, This company helped in releasing a Reality TV show called The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch whereย a group of paranormal experts looks around for signs of the Skin walkers.
4.2) Story of the Sherman Family
Terry Sherman bought the Skywalker ranch to raise and breed cattle. His family consisted of him, his wife Gwen, and their child. The first year of the family went peacefully. But in 1995, the family started spotting weird lights in the sky that appeared to be a UFO. These UFOs were usually square cube vehicles that beamed a white light and hovered in the sky. The family had frequent sightings, one after another.
One day Terry Sherman found three long circles where the grass was flattened. These three crop circles shaped a triangle. They also found large-sized holes on the ground that appeared overnight.
Everything started getting worse when Terry discovered that one of his cows was dead. But the manner of its death was terrifying. There was no blood around the cow, just a hole in the center of the Cowโs left eye. But this was just the beginning of cattle mutilation incidents on Terryโs Ranch.
After inspecting the death of his cows, Terry reported that every cow had a hole in its left eyeball, but some had a hole carved around the cowโs rectum additionally, these cows seemed to be reeking of some chemical smell. Some cows disappeared without a trace. This led people to believe that some extraterrestrial activities might be possible around the area.
The last string of Terryโs will broke when he went outside his house to check on the livestock at night and saw a pair of glaring red eyes. He witnessed a creature that appeared to be a wolf but three times larger than the average one. Luckily, Terry went out with his gun and shot at the wolf-like creature, which disappeared into the trees.
This started the whole saga of the Skin Walker attacking the land, and eventually, the Ranch received its name. Another reason why people stress the existence of a Skin walker rather than an extraterrestrial entity is that the land once belonged to the Ute tribe, However, the Navajo Nation is nearby, and this strengthened the belief that this creature might as well be a Skin walker.
5) Skeptical Theoriesย
Even after so many sightings, itโs hard for many people to believe these alleged claims. Many skeptics believe that Skin walker is a non-existent entity, one that simply belongs to old stories and not this modern world. People have good reasons to believe these skin walker stories are simply stories. Some of the reasons are :
- The land contains oil ground, and due to some experiments conducted with nuclear weapons in the early 1900s, the area around the Ranch could be highly toxic. This could be one of the reasons why the cattle started dying. (Though that still doesnโt answer the eye and Rectum hole that didnโt even bleed)
- NIDS, the research group of Bigelow, was disbanded in 2004. But it was immediately replaced by a more secretive group. Thus even after spending 20 years of manpower and other resources on the Ranch, The findings were deemed to be classified.
- The land owners before Shermanโs family i.e., Kenneth John Myers and Edith, lived there for over 60 years and never had a paranormal encounter. Everything started after the Ranch was sold to the Sherman family
- Once the land was owned by Bigelow, he sold it for massive profits. In turn, the company made a whole Reality TV show out of the Ranch, which brought in even more profits for the company. This constant transfer of ownership for huge profits led people to believe that this whole thing was something staged or a scam to get othersโ attention on the Ranch and away from the sightings in Nevada.
6) So, Are Skin Walkers Real?
There are thousands of believers and an equal number of non-believers, but to claim something to be true, we need evidence. So far, we have discovered verbal claims from people, not actual proof. Even the reality show has failed to present a solid lead that confirms the existence of skinwalkers. All the things in the Ranch stopped with the Sherman family leaving the premises. This also means that after they left, we never received the new information that Bigelowโs research team couldโve discovered.
The last time a piece of big information was given out was on February 21, 2002, When an Ice circle appeared on the irrigation canal out of the blue. The National Institute for Discovery Science released a detailed report on the Ice circle. The world is shaped at the will of the viewer. So what are your thoughts? Are skin Walkers real?
