The Office is the quintessential workplace comedy, taking banality and making it brilliant. Set in the Scranton, PA branch of Dunder Mifflin, it looks at the daily lives of office employees in a hilarious yet sometimes awkward way. And it’s not the strange characters that make the show, but rather making what is ordinary feel extraordinary.

It revolves all the shenanigans around regional manager and well-meaning clueless doofus Michael Scott. All his cringe-worthy, though strangely endearing, antics that keep the office in chaos form some of the most memorable moments of the show-the weirdly eccentric leadership style, and wrong attempts at a “fun” workplace.

And Jim Halpert, the wise-cracking wiseman; Pam Beesly, the nice receptionist with much aspiration; their slow-burning romance; it all gives depth to the show and keeps its comedy chaos at bay because of sincerity. And, of course, there are the comedies of these employees: the eccentric and sometimes a tyrant assistant to regional manager, Dwight Schrute, and the ever-striving though misguided temp Ryan Howard.

It’s really a fantastic masterclass in comedy, awkward, dry, and witty, full of heart. This is more than just a show about work; the best moments in life come at the most inopportune times.
