Have you ever heard about the Northern Lights aka Aurora Borealis? For me, it all started with a thread when I was scrolling down Reddit – this one.
I was fortunate enough to capture the northern lights dancing overhead in Iceland!

So, what turned me into an Aurora Hunter? This glorified image got so saved in my mind that I had to go through the entire thread. Many users mentioned that they had been there at that time and if not in the same place, they mentioned a few other places as well. And I wanted to find out which one I wanted to go to.
Some, like this user Full_Piano6421, couldn’t believe if auroras were as vivid – just like me.

My journey of becoming an Aurora Hunter started from here. If there is such a beautiful phenomenon in the world, is it really this beautiful? And then I went in-depth to find out the answer. Even though this is gorgeous and magically beautiful, filters and graphic editing can easily help exaggerate things nowadays.
And so it was looking! Its beauty is so mystical that one who is watching it for the first time couldn’t almost believe it. It also gave me some sense of divine powers – I am sure you would think the same.
And aurora has different shades. Some users, like Stonx1911, point out how green light can hardly be seen as it requires perfect angles, lightning, weather, and temperatures to be favorable. So, not all are the same – you won’t get the same aurora experience from Yukon as you would say, from Finland. And if you’re going to visit it only one time – as surely, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many – you would want to see the best Northern Lights with multiple shades of green color can be seen.

However, even when the shots of camera exposure can make it supernatural and just unimaginable, it is still fun to see something this exciting and alluring. But, from what I read there, many people mentioned Iceland, however, some of them weren’t so lucky to look at the bright sides of Aurora.
Further, for many days, I did much research about Aurora and watched its most realistic videos on Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, and wherever I could possibly find out.

Whatever the reason was for how I got into this, the main thing was the Reddit thread and the discussion of people who encouraged me to know about it.
The more I learned about it, the more I got fascinated with it. Eventually, it led me to watch multiple reels and videos of Aurora to keep my excitement on track. And pack my bags on the next summer flight.
I am an enthusiast of supernatural kinds of stuff and Aurora is one of those things that is making me hold on to it as somehow it inspires me as well like “keep going and you will find something magical to hold on to”.
Today, I try to locate new places to go aurora visiting each year – and have visited like over 5 different ones last year. But it all started from this one Reddit thread. What’s your story?
