Environmental issues are not hidden from anyone, everybody knows about greenhouse gases and their harmful effect on the environment. And the main factor of all these things is pollution, which is impossible to stop. However, pollution cannot be stopped but it can be controlled, which means the effects of carbon footprint can be minimized.
Our activities contribute to making the health of the environment worse, so the responsibility to maintain the environment’s health is also ours. And if you are reading this that means you are already trying to contribute a little to lowering the effects of carbon footprint.
Further, many steps can be taken to save the environment but following one thing at a time does not cause confusion and the positive impacts can easily be observed. How? Suppose you are following numerous ways to save the environment, out of which, some are causing positive effects while others making negative ones. It might become difficult to observe which measure you have taken is causing the negative effects. So, focusing on one thing at a time can lower the risk of having too many confusions.
Mentioned below are the tips that can help reduce carbon footprint or can be said as a step towards eco-friendly living.
1. Consider Using Electric Vehicles
There is less risk of producing harmful smoke when you use electric vehicles as they don’t leave harmful smoke in the environment and eventually reduce the carbon footprint use. On second thought, using cars only for farther distances can also help, the rest of the time, walking and cycling can also be considered.

2. Lower the Amount of Food Wastage
Wasting food is also a kind of contribution to harm the environment. Leftover food that is kept for days loses its freshness and starts producing an unpleasant smell, which eventually goes to waste and becomes rotten, producing harmful gases. Also, buying as much as food you need can lower the wastage of food too.

3. Switch to Reusable Products
The use of disposable or single-use products harms the environment, which can be lowered by using reusable products. For instance, using a steel bottle instead of a plastic or disposable bottle can lower the carbon footprint. As you know, many disposable items like containers, plates, or utensils are made of plastic, which is eventually trashed to recycle. Also, it increases the amount of manufacturing of disposable products, which also drains energy and leaves harmful gases to the environment. So, reusability is also a step towards eco-friendly living.

4. Positive use of Carpooling / Using Public Transport
Carpooling is a way to make less use of vehicles. It’s better to share a ride with your colleagues or friends instead of using your personal vehicle to reach the same destination. Further, the use of public transport is also done to reduce carbon footprint by using shared vehicles.
5. Save Light Energy
Unplugging the chargers and turning off the lights and fan switches when not in use can save a lot of electricity. Air-conditioners drain most energy, so it is crucial to avoid maximum or unnecessary use of these products as the more energy is drained, the more needs to be produced, and to produce more electricity, the more non-renewable sources need to be used. So, saving electricity is also a contribution to lowering your carbon footprint amount.
6. Switch to LED or CFLs Instead of Bulbs
Using fluorescent light bulbs is harmful to the environment as they produce more heat. Switching to LED or CFL light bulbs can reduce carbon footprint and they also provide longer useful life and also they are manufactured with less toxic ingredients than fluorescent light bulbs.
