Guacamole is a classic Mexican condiment. It contains an irresistible avocado creaminess. Avocados are a perfect choice in summer and have a lot of health benefits. Guacamole is rich in flavors and it pairs perfectly with hundreds of dishes. Let’s see what to eat with guacamole.

1. What to Eat with Guacamole?

Guacamole is a dip made with avocados. It is enjoyed by millions of people in the U.S. as well as in Mexico. The taste of this dip is fresh and tempting. It tastes light with a hint of spiciness.  Nowadays, guacamole is available in almost all stores due to its increasing popularity. Many people think guacamole is a dressing but it is a dip.

There are abundant options of food items that you can eat with this heavenly sauce. Ranging from nachos, tacos to burritos, and pita bread, possibilities are endless.

2. A Culinary Creation

Avocado originated from the South Mexico region as it naturally grows there. Many people suggest that Aztecs, who lived in that region, consumed guacamole as a part of their daily meal.

Eventually, it became a common party snack in many regions of the world. Mexicans enjoyed it on various occasions, especially during Cinco de Mayo. Initially, Aztecs used to call it “ayahuasca-milli” or avocado mixture. People in Spain also used to make guac but they could not pronounce “ayahuasca-milli”

But, Spanish people added a little twist by including other ingredients like onions, lime juice, and cilantro. Eventually, they started calling it guacamole and ever since the name stuck.

3. A Simple Dip to Make

There is no cheat sheet to make a tasty guac because anyone can make it. The key is to always use fresh ingredients to make this. You will only get the desired richness if you buy all the contents, especially vegetables freshly.

The rich, creamy, and flavorful guac will become your new favourite recipe. It is a perfect mixture of easily accessible ingredients that beautifully complement each other.

4. Ingredients

The guacamole recipe is very straightforward. If you want to make an authentic Mexican guac, then only avocado, tomatoes, and chillies will suffice. But an advanced version is more common nowadays and entails additional ingredients like cilantro, lime juice, onion, etc., Here are the ingredients to make perfect guacamole:

4.1 Avocado:

Avocado is the soul of this dish. Use fresh and ripe avocados as they are rich in all the fibres and additional nutrients. Take firm avocados as you are going to mash them.

When you visit the market, look for avocados that have a stem attached. Then try to press them with gentle hands. If they are firm then they should feel a bit squishy. That’s your top-quality avocado to make guacamole.

4.2 Tomatoes:

Use less juicy tomatoes as the texture of guacamole should not be too liquidy. You want a smooth creamy texture. Juicy tomatoes will make the mixture runny and it will not be a good guacamole. You can also use cherry tomatoes as they are not very juicy.

4.3 Onions:

Onions are a newly added ingredient in this dish. People in Mexico use yellow onions but you can also use red ones if they are easily available to you.

4.4 Cilantro:

Cilantro is a very famous herb in Mexican dishes. Use fresh cilantro to get the best taste.

4.5 Lime:

The richness of avocado is managed by adding lemon juice. The tanginess of lime balances all the flavours in this dip.

4.6 Jalapeno:

If you want to make guacamole savoury and spicy, jalapeno does the deed. It brings extra heat to the dip and makes it a better choice to eat with many food items. If you feel jalapenos are spicier than your taste, then you can use pepper also.

Remove the inner seed and put the remaining part in the bowl. Use a fork to mash them. Keep gently mashing them until you reach the desired consistency.

If you love a little chunky dip, do not mash very hard as they are very firm. Once you have mashed avocado, add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, garlic and cilantro. Mix them and then add a little lemon juice. Then add jalapenos or bell peppers. In the end, add salt according to your taste and a little bit of olive oil to mix them all.
