A cleaner environment nowadays is getting more trending like a phrase that people love to say and listen to but do not actually take even the easiest measures to make it work. It may sound harsh but it’s the reality of the world.
However, one person alone can’t make our environment cleaner. And when we say “our environment”, it refers to all the people that live in it. So, everybody is responsible for the cleanliness of the environment and it’s our duty as well.
Also, people are trying to form local communities to keep their surroundings neat and clean for a cleaner and green environment, which is an excellent approach to making this dream come true. Below are several local and easy actions that everyone must follow not as an individual but as a group of responsible citizens to make our environment clean.
1. Throw litter in public dustbins only
Many people throw their garbage, especially plastic items, specifically at places like beaches. As an individual, you must throw litter only in the public dustbins not on the roads or beaches. Further, small local group campaigns can be run once a week to clean your surroundings and it will also encourage nearby people to do the same.
2. Saving water at home and the surroundings
It has always been heard to turn off the taps when not in use at home but what about the public areas where some people often leave them open? However, it’s so inconsiderate of them to not follow environmental safety rules but instead of cursing at people like them, simply turn off the running water in public places if you encounter such a thing can be helpful.
3. Planting trees in your neighborhood
Everybody grows plants in their homes and often turns their balconies into green. Why? Mostly, because it gives a fresh and peaceful feeling to live in a greener environment and reduces pollution as well. This approach can also be done at a bigger scale like stretching it to your neighborhood or if possible, the entire town. It can’t be done alone, so to do this, forming a local community for planting trees can be an excellent idea, seek help from your local municipality as it will be encouraging if people see the government is helping, perhaps other people may also give a contribution to it.

4. Composting at homes
Composting is one of the best approaches to clean the environment more sustainably. Gathering the organic waste and letting it decompose, which can further be added to soil as humus can reduce the levels of garbage at home, which is hard to recycle or eventually contribute to harming the environment.
5. Say no to plastic or single-use items
Firstly, follow this rule yourself as an individual then educate people about it as every good thing must start from you. Plastic and single-use items produce more waste than eco-friendly ones and to spread awareness posters can be distributed in the neighbourhood. Reusable things do less harm to the environment and also allow you to save your money. So, it’s a win-win rule to follow.
