Soon you will be able to get a learning license by your College authorities in your college premise itself. Delhi government is planning to empower numerous Delhi Colleges to issue learnersโ license to students above 18 years and who have at least scored minimum 6 marks in an online test. This project will be first introduced to government affiliated polytechnic colleges. Other than these, about 7 seven colleges under Delhi Government including Ambedkar University will also have this authority.
According to Transport Minister, a new system is likely to be launched by September. The student will simply have to appear for an online test and apply for the driving license in their college premises. This project will be reviewed by Manish Sisodia this week. Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot also states that this project is created keeping in mind that the demand of learnersโ license is more among the 18-24 age group people.
This project will be very beneficial to the students especially to those who want to commute to college through personal means. Since this project is roping in colleges and the procedure will also be executed in the college premises the students will not have to go here and there and they can easily get their license. Currently, an applicant has to apply at any of the 13 motor licensing offices across the office to get a learnersโ license.
If this project gets implemented it would be for the first time that licensing authority will be with someone other than MLOs. 88 colleges which are affiliated to Delhi University will also be included in this project. As per the officials, the online tests will be conducted in the college premises once in a week. The medium of the test will be either in English or in Hindi. The applicant will have to answer 10 objective type questions within 10 minutes.
Not long ago Voter ID drive was also implemented in various DU colleges in which students can get voter ID cards from their own colleges and it was a hit among students. Similarly, this plan will also be a success among students. This plan if implemented will not only be efficient, it will also bring transparency in the system.
This project will definitely bring relief for those students who have to struggle a lot in public transport. Now with their own cars or bikes, they will not have to worry about waiting for buses or going in crowded metros. Freshers are definitely going to jump up and down with excitement as their next three years will surely going to be amazing.
