Ever since my fascination with mystery or thriller novels came into my life, I have been trying to explore this genre more and more. However, even if I read them, I couldn’t give them enough time to finish, maybe because I couldn’t find them intriguing and exciting like fantasy or novels based on fiction. Further, as I realized this fact, I tried to have an open mind towards this genre, and then I began reading mystery novels and finished them. Gradually, I started to like mystery novels and now have a long list of them. Some of my favourite mystery novels are mentioned below.
1. Ghost Bird
Lisa Fuller’s Ghost Bird is one of my favourite mystery novels. Set up in a spooky world, the novel also gives a sense of thrill and deep suspense. It’s about two twin sisters, Stacey and Laney, and Laney gets lost in a spooky and brutal world. The other sister, Stacey, who is left behind, has dreams about the different world that her sister is in. All Stacey knows is that her sister is in trouble, and she is the only one who can save her. The novel was worth reading for me as a combination of suspense, thrill, and mystery with a great original plot.
2. The Disappearance in Fiji
The Disappearance in Fiji by Nilima Rao is an authentic piece that took me back to 1914, in which the novel is based. This was the novel that I discovered after researching so much on the internet. It is about the disappearance of a woman and an Indian officer who was charged with finding her. In his journey to finding the woman, he faced many challenges and some dark sides of his fellow country folks that obliged him to confront his feelings and prejudices about them. It is a beautifully written novel that coerced me to spend hours reading.
3. The Loop
The Loop by Nicholas Holloway is the most twisted novel I have ever read. After a little unfortunate beginning, the book kept me interested as its mystery and plot are incredibly compelling. This astonishing thriller mystery is about past events and a murder that leaves grievances and a pathetic murder mystery behind to be solved by an author. And I think this is the best captivating novel I have ever read.
4. Dracula
Dracula is among the oldest published novels that I have read, written by Bram Stoker. It is a perfect novel that blends horror, thriller, suspense, and mystery. Though the novel is about a vampire, if one looks at it from a different angle, then another main character of the novel is a detective, Professor Abraham Van Helsing, who tracks down Dracula. I find this series of bizarre and creepy incidents interesting.
