St. Lucy’s Day, also known as the Feast of Lucia is a Christian feast day, celebrated on 13th December to commemorate the Saint Lucy, who according to a legend brought food and aid to the Christians hiding in the catacombs. This is also the Swedish festival of light. Every year there is a procession where young boys and girls dress up in all-white gowns, singing songs in the memory of Saint Lucy. The procession is led by a girl, who is chosen to be Lucy, and she wears a crown od candles on her head.

On 10th December, 2015, selected members of the music societies of Indraprastha College, were present at the Embassy of Sweden to witness this ancient tradition. However, this is not all. The students, dressed distinctly in black jackets performed too. To celebrate the Swedish festival of light, they sang songs of light, like Fireworks by Katy Perry, Halo by Beyoncé, Fix you by Coldplay and so on along some with Indian songs and sargams. The principal of the college, Dr. Babli Moitra Saraf, along with the music society advisors were also present to grace the occasion.

After dinner, the students were handed certificates and goody bags to forever remind them of the wonderful evening.
