MANTHAN 2015
(BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION)
Manthan is an initiative of the Institute of Management, Christ University, to identify entrepreneurs who can launch their ideas into viable commercial ventures.
Manthan is an Inter-deanery Business-plan Competition open to all Christ University participants who have a unique and feasible business idea. The event is an apt platform to bring about the entrepreneurship spirit and discover the courage and caliber to dream, plan, execute and succeed. The winning plans are awarded cash prizes and can be incubated at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Research (CEDAR), Institute of Management.
Last year, they had 23 teams registering for the mentoring session, and 13 of them appearing for the first round consisting of 30 participants. The teams hailed from various departments across the university, including the Deanery of Science, Department of Commerce, and the Department of Management Studies. They had an elite panel of judges for the first round, comprising accomplished personalities of the corporate world. Four teams qualified for the second and final round of the competition.
They had Prof. (Dr.) Leena James and Prof. S. G. Raja Sekharan as the judges for the second and final round. There was intense competition among the finalists, and 2 teams emerged as winners of the event. They were OutSmart ( Winners ) and Why-U ( Runners- Up). The winners received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a chance for their B-Plan to be incubated in the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Research (CEDAR), CUIM, and the Runners-Up got a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Prof. S. G. Raja Sekharan was impressed with both the winner’s B-Plans and invited them for a one-on-one session to improve their B-Plan. This incident was the highlight of the event as the purpose of Manthan is to provide deserving entrepreneurs an opportunity to convert their ideas into reality.
Details of the Event:
- Teams consisting of 1 – 3 member/s.
- Teams qualifying for Round-2 (Market Place) would be awarded participation certificates.
- The best B-plan would be incubated at CEDAR (Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Research), Christ University.
- Cash prizes:
- 1st Prize – Rs. 10,000/-
- 2nd Prize – Rs. 5,000/-

3. December 5, 2015 – Round 3 (The Last Lap)
