Stem Cell Research1 is a term full of controversies. We all must have wondered what stem cell is? But why are there so many controversies associated with it and so on?
This article features the pros of stem cell research and will try to transform the mentality of people to praise and adopt this research and help save the lives of their near and dear ones.
Stem Cells
The formal definition of stem cells as given by scholarly scientists is:
“A TSC is an undifferentiated cell, capable of proliferation, self-renewal, production of much differentiated functional progeny, regenerating tissue after injury, and a flexibility in using these options.”
The basic theme of stem cells is to rejuvenate the power of creating new cells for particular organs. Stem cells are found at the umbilical cord, which is the attachment point of the mother and fetus2. The idea is to imbibe those cells at the time of birth and preserve them for the future to keep oneself healthy.
1. Debate Surrounding the Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research is not new. This has been practiced since 1998; the research has been in continuous debate.
Now you must be thinking, why has stem cell research been in a debate? It is because there are specific ethical dilemmas related to this.
The debate is mainly concerned with embryonic stem cells3. The counterparts of this research say that there is a destruction of embryos during this research, which is ethically incorrect for the human race.
2. Religion and Stem Cell Research
Another argument commonly made keeping in mind the religious perspective is that there is a belief that God has sent everyone down to earth. The argument is concerned with keeping things by the natural cycle of life and death. He has an absolute right to our lives, and any interruption in this would be equivalent to insulting him.
Some experts oppose this argument because, technically, we have already exceeded the limit to which mother earth can feed us by implementing this kind of research which may lead to an extensive scarcity of resources. Research has shown that we will reach about 9 billion in 2020, i.e., we will be exceeded by 2 billion, which is quite a large number.

I admit that the disadvantages are to be considered, which may or may not be correct, but it’s all about the family or the loved ones who bring eternal happiness and a smiling curve to our faces.
So, look at the brighter side of life and be happy with all those dear people who were always and will always stand by your side and support life.
The choice is all yours. You can choose the ideologies of the religious domain and experts, or you can save the stem cell to save your children from incurable diseases4.
