Weekends are for relaxing, taking time off, and chilling and downtime. It will help you recover from the drain that you felt from the whole week. That is the most popular idea among people. But some people believe that rather than just relaxing on these two days what if we do something that helps us make all seven days better?

Let me take you down the road that I’m considering. So, I work in a corporate job. Work is packed from Monday till Friday, so much so that my life in other spheres is completely hampered. On days that I get a couple hours some or the other plan is already on schedule. There will be dinners with friends and family, or family shopping, or something as small as getting my nails done.

Mondays are usually very tough because it feels like a start to so many things, and quite literally for the office I have to start prepping for Mondays right from Sunday evenings. So, while doing this for a few months I realized that everything that has been worked out before takes less time when it is used.

This is when I started planning my entire week ahead of time, every Saturday or Friday night if I am not so occupied; I make a list of things that I need in the coming week and how will I procure them – both food and service. So, this is where meal prep also jumped in.

Due to long, weary hours in the office, it becomes difficult to come back home and prepare food from scratch. Similarly, it is not easy to manage a complete nutritious breakfast or lunch on a working day because that requires a lot of time and effort.

Preparing for your meals beforehand comes in handy in such cases. Meal preps cut down your cooking time by half. It also is a good option because now you do not waste any supplies, plus you never have to think of a thousand options.

Now, the main reason why meal prepping helped me is not just the time and effort but what I was eating. Planning my meals on Saturday for the whole week I bring all necessary ingredients by Saturday prepare everything and store them on Sundays for the entire week.

So I know what I will be eating every day. I can control my portion size1 and calorie intake2. I can ensure that I’m eating a healthy mix of foods full of nutrients. I have a dietician working with me who sends me a monthly diet plan and accordingly, I incorporate those ingredients in my food.

This way, I eat healthy and home-cooked food. It is high in nutritional value. It helps me attain my fitness goals and also save a lot of time which I can use for workouts to get in a much better shape. I also make sure that the meals that I carry in my office are at least partially homemade.
