In recent years, taking cold showers has become a trend all over the internet. But why are people taking ice baths? Are they beneficial? I have seen people talking on social media about their ice baths or cold showers and how they benefit them.
This thing stuck in my mind because I am not a cold-shower person. But I decided to give it a chance, and at first, I couldn’t gather the courage to take ice baths, so my first two days were wasted. Then, on the third day, I motivated myself enough to get a cold shower, and then what? I froze, of course! It was my first ice bath.
So, no changes can be felt within just a day. I followed taking cold showers for 10 days, but the changes I saw were surprising enough. But how?
The drastic change I observed was my improved mood with less depression and anxiety levels, probably because I have read somewhere that immersion in cold water increases mood-elevating hormones. I think the same happened to me.

I usually take showers in the morning, so I followed the same routine for cold showers. The first thing that I noticed was the reduced inflammation. When I wake up, there is a sense of heat and laziness; after taking cold showers, the burning sensation instantly leaves my body and improves my mood. When inflammation is gone, the laziness also goes.
Eventually, it lowered my stress, as when the chilled water fell on my head, it lowered my body temperature, which is quite an effective approach, especially in summer. Also, I didn’t search for the science behind it; these are my observations.

I observed a sense of muscle recovery. I guess when cold water slips on your body, the muscles contract, and this contraction can increase muscle strength. So, before doing workouts, I started taking cold showers. Still, I repeat this only in the summer season.

Further, I have heard much about skincare routines, including ice baths. So, here, I got a chance to experiment with these skin care routines on myself. Also, I have seen many videos on social media in which people dip their faces in cold, ice-packed water instantly after waking up. I always wondered what changes it could bring to my skin. But, as I get to take ice baths, this is automatically done regularly, and I notice significant changes.
My skin started to glow, initially, it blushed but gradually it started to glow more day by day. And I think this is the best part of taking ice baths.
The major benefits of taking ice baths that I observed were the skin benefits. I felt smoother, glossy, and younger skin. As I mentioned before, cold water contracts muscles. It also tightens the pores on the entire body, which fills the extremely tiny gaps in the skin that we can’t see, and I think this is how my skin became glossy.
But if I want to have eternal glossy skin, I have to follow this method regularly, which seems a bit difficult to me, but it’s quite good and obsessive if I want to have anti-aging skin advantages.
