Tell me honestly, how much do you believe in UFOs or aliens? I am sure the answer will vary a lot between different groups of people. But what’s the harm in a little mystery?
Like the McMinnville UFO photographs and several other sightings, 1965 became an important period that also witnessed UFO sightings – especially in the town of Warminster.
Hence this incident, over time, was called the Warminster thing mystery, because obviously, in the time when there were no handy cameras of the best quality, having proof of a sighting was quite hard, who was lying and who was telling the truth? Guess this is a mystery we would never be able to solve.
1. The Warminster Thing Happened in the Town of Warminster
Warminster is a small town, located in the South-West of England, known for UFO sightings.
Let us first begin to understand what exactly was this ‘thing’. It was June 1965 and strange objects were seen floating in the sky around the whole town, this phenomenon came to be known as ‘The Warminster Thing’.

In the dark, they could be seen as stars or lights forming a pattern of the cross. They could not be explained properly as they were unrecognizable, some named the ‘thing’ UFOs or flying saucers.
The people who saw the UFOs also said that they heard strange voices and sounds when the UFOs passed across the sky.
As they approached to see the UFO closely, it moved faster than usual but soon disappeared.
2. Strange Sound
These UFOs also made sounds that awoke many people in the neighbouring communities. During the early hours of Christmas Day, a small town locator shared her experience with the strange sound.
This incident was very unexpected, and the sound was coming from the roof of her house. At first, she thought she was dreaming but later noise increased, but that sound was very unnatural.
In the beginning, the sound seemed like a paranormal activity, it was like a person dragging a branch or a twig.
Then the noise changed, it was like a dull thudding accompanied by hailstone falling on a rooftop. She thought it might be raining. So, she got up and looked out of the window, but the sky was completely clear.
3. Iconic Image Of Warminster Thing
The Warminster thing became famous in no time as this UFO activity was captured by Gardon Faulkner in 1965. Soon enough the photograph was published by every newspaper.
The photograph has a flying saucer floating across the sky. The image is enlarged so that the shape of the UFO is visible, and the flying saucer looks like a pie or flat disc tipped above.

The image was printed in the daily mirror. The paper was printed on the date 10 September 1965. The title said ‘As Warminsters discuss – The Thing’. This news gained a vast amount of publicity for the small of Warminster.
When the citizens of Warmister spotted the strange object in the sky, they also observed an orange flame floating in the air.
Within a short period, the town became famous for UFO sightings. Thousands of people used to gather around to watch unidentified objects.
4. Power Down
The UFO sightings were reported by residents of Warminster who were still driving a vehicle such as a car or a motorcycle. They noticed that when they watched UFOs in the sky, their vehicle used to break down.
When the UFOs were nearby the radios experienced disturbance, their sightings also caused a malfunction in the vehicle engines.

It was predicted that the Warminster sightings might also have side effects on brain and psychological functions. The person may not remember the incident or would have repetitive memories of the same.
5. Pie In The Sky
Pie in the Sky was a documentary filmed by BBC West in 1966, it became one of the famous documentaries and shows made about a small town like Warminster.
The Warminster Thing continued to be spotted till the end of the year 1966. But in the year 1970, the popularity of the sightings began to drop.
It became old news and lost nationwide publicity. Ken Rogers, who was a UFO buff started a newsletter called ‘The Warminster UFO Newsletter.’
6. Warminster Information Centre
Warminster Information Centre thought that such an incident should not be taken lightly and not be forgotten. They have organized an artwork which is painted on the old police station wall.

This artwork has gained a lot of attention and popularity. Leslie Blain from the Warminster Information Centre says that the artist of the painting is a secret.
The artist has conveyed through the Warminster Information Center that he would add some other elements to the painting.
The final artwork would convey the stories of the UFO sightings experienced by the citizens of Warminster. The paint would glow in the dark so that it would have an amazing effect in the night.
7. Closing Thoughts: Fake Or Real
The report for the Warminster Thing stated that the reasons for the strange incidents were not clear and unrecognizable. The pictures had pie-like images and figures mixed with dust and emissions.
The report explained that the dust and other particles might contribute to forming shapes that might look like Ufos. The sightings can be said paranormal activities but still cannot be explained.
But the report contained not only one person but the entire town witnessed strange events in their life for the time being. The sounds, voices, and vehicle breakdowns could not be made up. Let us know what you think in the comments!
