USA National Police Week is all about honoring those who have lived for others.
American attorney and politician Rep. Michelle Fischbach tweeted about National Police Week on her official Twitter handle. Moreover, she has also held the office of Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota and is a law officer herself.
1. What is National Police Week?
National Police Week is observed each year to pay gratitude to the United States officers who work for the enforcement of law and have made great sacrifices to make the country more secure.
Moreover, is an important week where heroes who have dedicated themselves to the country are remembered along with several events and celebrations that happen throughout the week.
Also, these events include a blue mass, candlelight vigil, honor guard competition, and National Police Survivors Conference.
2. Annual Blue Mass
A blue mass is observed every year in the United States of America for persons who are employed in the field that contributes to the safety of the public.
For instance, firefighters and police officers. It is known as blue mass as blue is the color of the uniform of these officers. Moreover, persons can attend this mass to show peer support as well as to thank all the officers.
3. History Associated with National Police Week
15th May was designated Peace Officers Memorial Day by former US President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
However, the week in which this date falls came to be known as Police Week where law enforcement officers and several citizens pay homage to those who have sacrificed their lives for the safety of society.
Also, this week is now attended by more than 30,000 people from various international agencies and departments of the United States of America.
4. Schedule of Events
The National Law enforcement museum will be open throughout the week for all people. Also, this year the week is being observed from 14th May to 20th May.
Moreover, the memorial will also remain open to the public on all days and at all hours and also the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum will conduct the grand 35th Annual Candlelight Vigil.
5. National Law Enforcement Museum
This museum opened on 13th October 2018 intending to preserve the golden history of American law enforcement and to share the exceptional experiences of hard work and sacrifice of dedicated police officers.
Moreover, this museum in Washington, DC honors the story of American law enforcement and also provides journeys to people that will educate them about the sacrifices, and has insightful exhibitions as well.

6. How Can You Contribute?
However, one can sign up as a volunteer if they wish to donate their time to a great and valuable cause.
Also, all volunteers who are selected will receive job training, free admission to the museum, and a t-shirt.
Finally, the volunteers who wish to sign-up will be assigned either one of the three duties. These are wreath laying, candlelight vigil, or helping with the visitor flow.
