Why does writing letters still give you a sense of joy? Maybe because they are handwritten, and a letter indicates the investment of time in your thoughts. And why have we stopped writing letters? We are evolved and live in a tech-savvy world where we can convey our messages through mere emojis.
My thoughts went back to when people wrote letters and what they wrote in letters. We don’t think before hitting that send button on our screens today. And in the world of punctuations, abbreviations, and acronyms to everything, somewhere, the feeling of reading someone’s message may not be the same anymore as well.
However, if writing isn’t your style, do not worry! You will eventually get the hang of it. Take a paper, close your eyes, and think about the love you have for the person you are writing to, and you will write a book even before you realize it.
Further, the joy of writing letters hasn’t vanished, what vanished is our preferences. Writing letters has become so underrated in this modern age, but that doesn’t make it an extinction, as the joy you find in investing your time to do something meaningful can’t be matched with the chats on social media.
So, is handwritten letters still a way to satisfy one’s inner self? Yes, because many people miss the charm and joy of handwritten letters.

And I realized that it’s not about just writingโit is a whole lot more than that. It’s about the feelings that people have built in their times by writing letters to each other. It is not merely a phase but an entire era in which people wrote to each other to show their bond of love, friendship, and reminiscence.

Moreover, sending letters with snacks or the person’s favorite things could be a better way to make someone smile, and it would definitely double your joy and excitement about writing and sending letters.

Further, if you can’t write long letters, writing short notes would be enough to keep the joy of handwritten letters alive. Be it a letter or a note, anything written with your heart, true intent and with a certain amount of time invested shows the care you have for other people.
You don’t need to worry about the format of the letter when you write it to your loved ones.

Also, letter writing isn’t a task that needs to be fulfilled – thinking this way will make the entire thing daunting; instead, it can be treated as a hobby. It is never about writing long letters and feeling nostalgic, but it was a cherished phase that has passed.

What I learned from all this is that writing letters is not just about writing them; it’s about how well you can express your thoughts and feelings through a pen and paper. You can also write short notes and make thank you, sorry, or appreciation cards that include your writing and thoughts, which can also be considered a modern-day technique of writing letters.
