In this changing world, the increasing number of vehicles1 also has led to a lot of increasing traffic on the roads. There are certain times of the day when you can get a packed road for a good 20-30 minutes, like the evening and morning peak office hours.

A lot of times I have also been stuck in such jams and you can do nothing but just sit in your car and get irritated, luckily if you have a co-passenger sometimes then it is a little less boring.

When this started happening a lot to me, it got me thinking about other possible ways to commute, at least to nearby places. Where I could at least save some time, and that is how I started cycling again.

I used to go cycling earlier but that was for exercise purposes. When I realized I could get some small errands done too, then it was like the perfect combination. After that, I started using my cycle for grocery runs and similar chores so I could get it done quickly.

There was another benefit of the same: as I started finding my way, I also discovered other stores than my regular ones. Now I could get a wider variety of supplies and could even compare prices in different stores. This was possible only due to the exploration that I was doing on my cycle.

Getting my work done was just the initial motivation that helped me get to it again. But eventually, once I got used to riding my cycle every day I became a little more fond of it.

It was not until a very long time later that I went back to my cycling schedule like I did earlier. Cycling is among the most therapeutic workouts for me. It not only helps me burn calories but also allows me to clear my head. The best part of the activity, however, is that it is not a workout that you can do absent-mindedly.

So, when I’m completely focused on the way ahead, I have to steer my way and also keep up my speed to reach my goal; I’m multi-tasking which helps both my mind and body grow better.

The exploration of cycling started when I began doing the long stretches which were usually on the outskirts of the city. Along with my cycling buddies, I start at 4 or 5 in the morning and do our 3-hour stretch to achieve the target. This is the most rejuvenating activity in the entire week.

With the fresh air of the countryside, breezy and away from the pollution and hustle-bustle it is such a relaxation. Getting your workout done along with a calming feel is the best takeaway. We also usually do a picnic after the riding session so everybody can catch up and have some celebration time!
