Almost everyone loves comedy movies, and that is because human brains are chemically wired to get relaxed after laughing or coming across something humorous.
When we laugh, our brain releases the hormones that bring us happiness and pleasure, making it physically inevitable for us to enjoy comedy films.

The 2000s were the era for comedy films to shine. The comedic side of the film industry from 2000-2010 was revolutionary, and some would even say, life-changing, for mankind worldwide.

1) 2000s Comedy Movies: Juno
Juno is one of the best comedies of the 2000s; Juno (2007) is a comedy/drama directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody.
Plot:
Juno MacGuff (played by Elliot Page), an independent 16-year-old offbeat young woman, makes an unusual decision regarding the unborn child with her one-time sexual partner and best friend, Paulie Bleeker (played by Michael Cera).
She initially considers abortion but changes her mind and decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. She tells her dad (Mac MacGuff, played by J. K. Simmons) and step-mother (Bren MacGuff played by Allison Janney), about this and carries on with school.
They find prospective parents from the Penny saver ad section, a yuppie couple named Vanessa Loring (Jennifer Garner) and Mark Loring (Jason Bateman), and as a matter of fact, Juno loves the Lorings.
They sign a closed rather than open adoption contract, and she faces many challenges in her relationships with Paulie and her family throughout her pregnancy.

Borat (2006) is another one of the top 2000s comedy movies. It is a black comedy mockumentary directed by Larry Charles.
Plot:
In Borat, the journalist Borat Sagdiyev (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) leaves Kazakhstan to go to the USA to make a documentary about American society and culture.
In New York City, Borat sees an episode of Baywatch on TV and immediately falls in love with C.J Parker (Played by Pamela Anderson) from California while he has a wife back home, named Oskana.
He decides to go on a cross-country road trip to California to win her heart and make her his wife. On his journey, Borat and his producer come across many hysterical and chaotic situations in this country of Americans.
3)2000s Comedy Movies: Shaun of the Dead

Shaun of the Dead (2004) is a horror-comedy, starring Simon Pegg as Shaun and directed by Edgar Wright. This movie includes the adventures of the underachiever Shaun and his best buddy Ed (Nick Frost) as they cope with a zombie invasion.
Plot:
Shaun, a 29- year old working at an electronics store, is sick of his preposterously uneventful life. He lives with his slacker best friend Ed, and after getting dumped by his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield), Shaun decides to get his life full of nothingness back together.
The next morning, they wake up to realize that London has been overrun by zombies.
In the midst of this zombie apocalypse, he needs to save himself, his best friend Ed, his ex-girlfriend Liz, and his mom Barbara (Dame Penelope Wilton), and finally, hole up in the Winchester.
The adventures they face while doing it and what happens after it, too, is shown in the movie. This event turns his life around; after all, there is a time when a hero must rise from his couch.

Tropic Thunder (2008) is one of the greatest 2000s comedy movies. It is an action comedy film, directed by Ben Stiller.
Plot:
Tropic Thunder consists of a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie who are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying by their director (Damien Cockburn, played by Steve Coogan).
With the project months behind schedule, studio executive Les Grossman tells Damien that the project will be cancelled if the cast doesn’t get in control.
So he drops them in a real jungle with realistic explosions and special effects with hidden cameras to film “guerrilla-style” to add a dash of realism.

The Hangover (2009) is a 2000s comedy film directed by Todd Phillips.
Plot:
In the movie,
Two days before the wedding; Phil Wenneck (played by Bradley Cooper), Stu Price (played by Ed Helms), Alan Garner (played by Zach Galifianakis), and Doug Billings (played by Justin Bartha) go to Las Vegas to celebrate the bachelor party of Doug’s Marriage.
The morning after their arrival in Las Vegas, the soon-to-be groom’s 3 buddies wake up in the morning, with the worst hangover, with no memory of the previous night whatsoever.
The trio tries to track down last night and connect the pieces to find out what exactly happened and to find the bachelor himself. Hilarious chaos results as the trio re-traces their steps to locate Doug and bring him home safely before the wedding.

In Bruges is another one of the 2000s comedy movies. In Bruges (2008) is a crime related, dark comedy film directed and written by Martin McDonagh.
Plot:
Rookie hitman Ray (played by Colin Farrell) accidentally kills a young boy in church; while shooting a priest during confession, as per orders.
Ray and his mentor Ken (played by Brendan Gleeson )are sent to the Belgium city of Bruges by their boss Harry (played by Ralph Fiennes), where they are to await further instruction.
But things turn around for Ray when he meets Chloe (played by Clémence Poésy), a hip young woman who is part of a film crew shooting a movie starring an American dwarf named Jimmy (played by Jordan Prentice ), along with being a small-time drug dealer.
Harry calls Ken and orders him to kill Ray, on the principle that killing a child, even accidentally, is unforgivable. But Ken caves, while Ray deals with his own problems.
Ray hopes to count on both Chloe and Ken to help him carve out a new life for himself.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006) is a comedy-drama directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.
Plot:
When the 7-year-old little girl, Olive Hoover (played by Abigail Breslin), learns that she’s qualified for the the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant, the entire family takes a cross country trip in their Volkswagen camper van from Albuquerque to California.
But on the road, their van breaks down, they manage to get it working by pushing it and then running up to the side door and jumping in, but later on, the van’s horn starts honking unceasingly by itself, and because of this, they get pulled over by a state trooper.
Throughout the road trip, the family suffers numerous setbacks. This movie is about the adventures they face and how the pageant turns out to be, making it hysterical and one of the greatest comedy films.

Another one of the popular comedy movies of the 2000s is Superbad. Superbad (2007) is a teen-buddy comedy directed by Greg Mottola.
Plot:
The two best friends, Seth (played by Jonah Hill) and Evan (played by Michael Cera), who aren’t exactly “popular” and don’t exactly get invited to parties, want to reminisce their last few weeks by partying and losing their virginities, before going to different colleges.
Fortunately, Jules (played by Emma Stone) invites Seth to a party, and Evan accompanies him. Along with the help of their nerdy buddy Fogell (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse) plans to obtain a fake ID, Seth promises to buy alcohol for Jules’ party with money she gives him.
Unfortunately, the trip turned out to be a lot more difficult than they had originally planned. In the midst of this chaos, Seth and Evan get a clearer picture of where they fit in life and what their friendship truly means.

Snatch (2000) is a crime-comedy film written and directed by Guy Ritchie.
Plot:
Turkish (played by Jason Statham) and his accomplice Tommy (played by Stephen Graham), who are two unlicensed boxing promoters, get pulled into trouble while arranging a fight for a big-time criminal Brick top (played by Alan Ford) with Mickey (played by Brad Pitt)
When Mickey doesn’t throw his first fist as agreed, Brick top demands a rematch. Whilst all this is going on, a huge diamond heist takes place, and ‘Cousin Avi’, ‘Boris The Blade’, ‘Franky Four Fingers’ and ‘Bullet Tooth Tony’ enter the story.
As the story continues, the two situations blend into one with a chain reaction of events carrying on for each and every character, and things go from bad to worse.

Plot:
Two best friends, Enid (played by Thora Birch ) and Rebecca (played by Scarlett Johansson, graduate high school.
Their plan since seventh grade has been not to go to college but rather move in together after graduating, with jobs of their own.
The girls see an ad in which a lonely, middle-aged man that collects records named Seymour (played by Steve Buscemi) asks a woman he met recently to contact him. Enid prank calls him for fun, pretending to be that every woman, and asks him to meet her at a diner.
The girls, and their friend Josh (played by Brad Renfro), secretly observe him as he gets stood up at the diner and ridicule him, but later, Enid feels sympathy for him, and Enid and he become friends without him knowing the truth.
As the movie continues, Enid reaches maturity and develops a different view of life.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) is a black comedy crime film written and directed by Shane Black. In this movie.
Plot:
Harry Lockhart finds his way at a screen test in Los Angeles accidentally while being chased by the police for an unsuccessful robbery, where people mistake him for an actor. He accidentally submits an audition for the role of a detective in a movie and gets invited to a party.
At the party, he meets his childhood crush, Harmony Faith Lane(played by Michelle Monaghan), as well as Perry Van Shrike (played by Val Kilmer), who suggests he participate in an investigation to truly develop his character.
When Harmony’s sister gets murdered and Perry discovers a dead body, he decides to include Harry in the case. With the support of Harmony, they find the truth of the case, while Harry finds himself falling in love with Harmony.

Buddy experiences the delights of New York City and its human culture. Buddy meets his father, Walter, who is on Santa’s naughty list for being a heartless jerk, and they take a DNA test that proves that Buddy, in fact, is Walter’s biological son.
Chaos results as Walter tries to build a relationship with his son, Buddy.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is a stop motion animation directed by Wes Anderson. The project is based on the novel of the same name by Roald Dahl.
Plot:
Mr. Fox (played by George Clooney) has to put his wild days behind him and be a responsible father.
But he is too rebellious and decides to do “just one more raid” on the mean farmers, Walter Boggis (played by Robin Hurlstone), Nathan Bunce (played by Hugo Guinness) and Franklin Bean (played by Michael Gambon).
But the three rough farmers find out about it, it leads to chaos, and the movie is based on that.

Wet Hot American Summer (2001) is a romantic comedy, directed by David Wain, set on the last day of summer camp.
Plot:
Before going to the real world, a group of counsellors try to complete their unfinished business, making this their last chance to have a sexual encounter with anyone at camp.
All the while, Ben (played by Bradley Cooper) and Susie (played by Amy Poehler), two drama instructors, attempt to produce and choreograph the greatest talent show Camp Firewood has ever seen,
Also, Beth (played by Janeane Garofalo), the camp director, struggles to keep her counsellors in order and so much more to make the movie hysterical.
