The art of calligraphy has no limits and it’s not an easy skill to gain. People spend years to make each letter flawlessly. While many people work with familiar styles, it’s an exciting approach to learn different types of authentic calligraphy pf different dialects renowned worldwide.
However, the fact that makes learning calligraphy a more joyful yet innovative activity is that you get to learn different writing styles. I’m sharing some beautiful dialects for calligraphy, which are famous for their unique styling.
1. Chinese Calligraphy
Chinese calligraphy has no alphabet system is the most notable fact about it. Can you believe that a popular language does not have an alphabet? But, it’s true. The Chinese writing system is based on the use of syllables. Words can be formed with the mere use of two or more syllables together, even a half syllable adds a different meaning to the word and this is the fact that makes Chinese calligraphy a complex one to learn. However, it’s definitely a go-to writing style for calligraphy learners.
2. Arabic Calligraphy
The beauty of Arabic calligraphy is hidden in its various writing styles and techniques. Consisting of 28 letters, it has its roots in the Aramaic script. However, the interesting fact to know about Arabic calligraphy is that its all letters can be forged with 18 basic shapes, which means you need to first learn these basic shapes. Moreover, the way to easily recognize its writing style is to observe the one to three dots that its almost letters have above or below them. However, when it comes to shaping, you may need to work a lot as its characters may look similar but they are varied in many ways.

3. Devanagari (Indic) Calligraphy
Nepali and Hindi dialects are based on the Devanagari alphabet, which is a very popular concept. Even the script’s name refers to the meaning, which is sophisticated yet religious and urban. The best part about Devenagari calligraphy is it’s easily recognizable due to a horizontal line made over each character. Also, it’s not the most difficult script to learn but has various writing styles that can enhance your calligraphy writing. Even though the letters are not too complex to learn, the expressions form after joining some characters together making it interesting as well as challenging to learn.
4. Japanese Calligraphy
The gripping fact about Japanese calligraphy is that it follows a distinct writing style as its words are often forged by combining a few expressions, which are known as syllables and each syllable represents a different meaning. However, this dialect of calligraphy may look different now but initially, it started with the Chinese calligraphy system, eventually, new letters came into the language and became popular among people that are now widely used in the Japanese writing system.
