Urban wildlife photography, even the name sounds something exciting and adventurous. People go to many nature parks to find and capture distinct wildlife pictures because it becomes difficult to find native wildlife like jungles in cities. However, the wonders that you can find in cities have also some exceptions. 1. Choose Suburban Locations
Finding wildlife in suburban locations like parks or gardens can be useful in capturing animals interacting with humans and I guess the best part of suburban locations is that wildlife is also getting used to human surroundings and is adaptive to this environment, where they aren’t afraid of humans much. To capture more distinct pictures and unpredicted actions of animals, suburban locations are excellent fits.
2. Hiding in the Cars to Look at Some Unimaginable Actions
Wildlife living in urban areas has already gotten used to running vehicles on the road and some of the animals don’t bother it like dogs, foxes, rabbits, and groundhogs. Cars can become excellent portable hides for you to capture urban wildlife. Also, cars offer you a sense of safety from some dangerous animals like foxes who might attack if they notice your presence.
3. Make Trail Camera Your Friend
Another way to capture the best photographic moments of urban wildlife is by fixing trail cameras where you can’t go every time. For instance, places like cemeteries, deserted roads where people often go less, or parks where you might not be able to go early in the morning. Trail cameras are an excellent choice to capture the best unexpected moments.
4. Try going out at night
I think there is wildlife that actually exists at night when humans are not around like urban foxes. Although it’s difficult to imagine a fox in a town area, there are possibilities. Heading out at night may allow you to find something really unexpected that you couldn’t think of. However, at night, safety must be your first priority as the senses of animals are high and you can’t predict their next actions.
5. Hold on to the quiet locations
Sticking to the quiet locations can provide you with some benefits as wildlife can be found easily in quiet locations where people usually go less. These types of locations become the best places for animals to hide. Also, ensure while waiting for the perfect moment to occur, stay as quiet as possible even without moving much. It may be difficult but I think that’s the price photographers pay for encountering their best moments ever.
