Living in a city often feels far away from nature, especially for nature lovers. People living in urban areas find ways like hiking, trekking, birdwatching, and rafting as some adventurous activities to explore nature. But, still, these activities are like vacations to those who need a few days off from work and daily life restricting people from indulging in these activities more often. Here, I’m sharing some tips that can help explore green spaces in the cities.
1. Going for early morning walks
Taking early morning walks daily allows you to reconnect yourself with nature. Even by walking around your neighborhood, you can get to breathe in the fresh air and the emptiness of the morning provides you with supreme serenity. Also, neighborhoods are often surrounded by trees but we often ignore them during the rush of the day, which can better be explored in the morning.
2. Take a visit to the botanical gardens
Start visiting botanical gardens. The purpose behind building botanical gardens is to conserve native plants and make them accessible to the wider audience, so they can enjoy majestic green spaces in cities, which cannot easily be found in urban areas. Not only does it allow you to explore green spaces in cities, but leaves quite positive impacts on your mind as well.
3. Spending time in nearby public parks
Another way to traverse urban green spaces is to visit neighborhood parks, which are made for the public to spend their time in the morning and evening among beautiful nature. Though some parks are small and others are big, the main motive is to find urban nature. Also, this way you can release your stress by being away from the hustle and bustle of cities and enjoy picnics to spend time with family.
4. Inspect natural science museums
Natural science museums are some distinct places that you can visit to explore urban green spaces, especially when you are bored visiting parks and gardens. It will not only allow you to rediscover nature in cities but can also help you expand your knowledge about greenery and the environment and this way you can also spread awareness to more people for saving the environment and planting green spaces.
5. Try swimming in nature
Do not swim in pools made in urban areas if you want to indulge in nature. Find some nearby ponds, lakes, or river areas to swim, it will show you the great side of nature while being under the water. Swimming in nature allows you to explore nature in a more authentic natural setting, which feels so good.
6. Begin planting
You need to find green spaces in cities because greenery got less but why? One of the reasons is that people got busier in their lives and forgot to plant trees in their surroundings. So, I think, you don’t need to search for peace in urban green spaces as you can one for yourself at home. Also, planting is like a therapy that not only contributes to your mental well-being but can also bring you closer to nature in daily life.
