For the people who still feel that Aamir made a mistake by expressing his views.
Aamir didn’t say that he would leave the country. He said that it’s because of the “situation”, that THOUGHTS of leaving the country came to his wife’s mind. He has just expressed his wife’s thoughts due to the situation prevalent in the country. Again I’m saying, situations make you speak harsh words.
Only when you experience it personally you will understand the gravity of the situation.(For immature minds). Others will try to understand from others experiences. So it is basically the situation which has made her say those words and the government is entirely responsible for this, since no measures are being taken to curb the atrocities. If the situation was peaceful why would such thoughts come to her mind? It certainly will not.
So, when people can blast Aamir illogically, because of expressing his opinion it shows that they are intolerant, which proves his point! So if people are so patriotic and tolerant, then they must have questioned the government at the time when other atrocities took place. Atrocities need to be questioned then and there, at that particular moment itself. Being silent is the worst thing that you can do if you are a real patriot. A good citizen questions the government and not just follow it blindly.
The people who are protesting now are certainly not good citizens and are pseudo patriots. If you love your country, its not just saying “I love India!”, I’m a patriot and stuff, you must express your love through deeds, action and questioning the government at the time of atrocities is a concern shown by a good citizen and that person would be a real patriot since he knows that something wrong is happening in the country and he isn’t just sitting without doing anything!
Being silent is the worst possible thing. Silence will make you a traitor in such situations. Most of the people follow the government blindly as of now. Before you question anybody or before suggesting anything to anybody, you must think whether you have done anything to question the government. Not doing anything at the time of atrocities by being silent and telling others to do it is meaningless. According to some poll results, 85% of the people of India are now protesting against Aamir Khan using all possible means and that too violently, without any logic and to a very big extent. Among the 85% “Patriotic Indians” who are protesting now, not 5% of them protested against the government at the time of atrocities.
Why is that?
It is the silence of the people which is a very grave mistake, which has to be questioned. So when people are silent during that times, then then have NO RIGHT to speak now! Absolutely no right! When people don’t question the government even though the situation is alarming, how do you have the right to even suggest anything to anyone? You don’t have the right to do so.
Now, when someone comments about the “true situation” people are intolerant by protesting. Even If I consider the protesting, it is not peaceful, not sensible, not logical and is being done to tarnish the image of the actor just for the sake of using the opportunity to slam him.
If people are really good citizens, then they must question the government and protest the immoral way there are protesting against Aamir with abuses, foul, indecent, low-level words. Protest is acceptable. How is protesting with insane and slang words justified? No reason is there because people are just protesting without any proper basis and without any sense just to defame him and not for the sake of the country!
Again, before anybody suggests or questions anyone, they must have questioned the government IN THE SAME WAY as they are protesting against Aamir, since solving the situation is of prime importance. If the seriousness of the situation is not understood, its the mistake of the people which shows their immaturity and their flawed thinking.
Director Rajkumar Hirani felt that Aamir’s statements were innocent and he expressed his views on the matter only when he was asked about it. The manner in which the people attacked Aamir is a measure of intolerance.
“I feel we need to pick up on positive things and talk about those things, we all need to be careful,” he added.
It was just intolerant people slamming Aamir senselessly just because they got the opportunity. Aamir’s religion also was brought into picture along with the negative remarks.
“And this fact was connected to the incident that he is a Muslim. This thought had never even come in our minds. I’ve celebrated every Diwali at Aamir’s house. Today, I’m sitting with Javed sahab, but this thought that a Hindu and Muslim are sitting together didn’t come to our minds,” Hirani said.
Even Priyanka Chopra has supported Aamir in this matter and told during a media event of “Bajirao Mastani” that every person must observe the events occurring in the world.
By observation it can be seen that everything is intolerant in this world.
She quotes “Don’t use your anonymity on social media and blast anyone, just sit down at your home and think what you are doing! Look what we have made of this country. Our ancestors have fought years and years to achieve democracy, freedom of speech, language, opinion. We are dividing ourselves”.
It is a very clear statement given by Priyanka which needs to be appreciated.
Some hardcore Hindus urged him to move to Pakistan.
And it has been verified that flight tickets to Pakistan were booked and sent to his residence! Such intolerance!
A leader of the Punjab unit of Shiv Sena had offered Rs 1 lakh to anyone who would slap Aamir for his comments on growing intolerance.
As an irony, Shiv Sena told that it was not the official view of the party and the matter was sealed under the carpet even though such an audacious statement was made by one of their party member. The leader was not even given any punishment for his “intolerance”, which means that the party is not being responsible towards its members.
This arrogant declaration was made by Punjab Shiv Sena chief Rajeev Tandon and protests took place near a 5 star hotel in Ludhiana where Aamir and his crew have been staying during the shooting of “Dangal”. A party which brings up a link-up with religion in every controversy does not have control of its members.
Snapdeal is bearing the heat with all this controversy and the people are to be blamed for this immature act, considering the fact that Aamir made a true statement driven by the situation. Its just another act of defaming the actor by haters and if personal statements made by ambassador affects the company due to the act of the people, then the true meaning of a Brand Ambassador is lost! It has to be brought into notice that Salman Khan still has an active case to his name(2002 hit and run) and was imprisoned in 2006 for blackbuck hunting. If people really slam actors for their personal comments on the companies they endorse, then many companies must shut down considering that Salman has an active case against him.
Even Hrithik Roshan has backed Aamir, admiring him since he stood by his words and “responded” to the intolerance by not reacting.
Aamir did provide a clarification on the issue later, but he did not retract back his words.
He asserted that he stood by what he said and neither his wife nor him wanted to leave the country and also told that he is a proud Indian.
Due to the misinterpretation of his statements, Aamir gave a clarification later and here are his exact statements :
In his one-page statement, Aamir said,
“First let me state categorically that neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country. We never did, and nor would we like to in the future.
“Anyone implying the opposite has either not seen my interview or is deliberately trying to distort what I have said. India is my country, I love it, I feel fortunate for being born here, and this is where I am staying,” he said.
The actor had kicked up a political storm with his remarks at a function in Delhi on Monday about his wife expressing fear for their child in the current atmosphere.
He had said, “Kiran and I have lived all our life in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India… She fears for her child, she fears about what the atmosphere around us will be.”
A defiant Aamir showed no signs of relenting today in the face of fresh attack.
“I stand by everything that I have said in my interview. To all those people who are calling me anti-national, I would like to say that I am proud to be Indian, and I do not need anyone’s permission nor endorsement for that,” he said.
In his statement, Aamir said, “To all the people shouting obscenities at me for speaking my heart out, it saddens me to say you are only proving my point.” He also thanked those who stood by him.
“To all the people who have stood by me, thank you. We have to protect what this beautiful and unique country of ours really stands for. We have to protect its integrity, diversity, inclusiveness, its many languages, its culture, its history, its tolerance, it’s concept of ekantavada, it’s love, sensitivity and its emotional strength,” he said.
The actor ended his statement by quoting Rabindranath Tagore’s famous poem, “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, Where knowledge is free, Where the world has not been broken up into fragments, by narrow domestic walls, Where words come out from the depth of truth, where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection, Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way, Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit, Where the mind is led forward by thee, Into ever-widening thought and action, Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake,” signing off with “Jai Hind”.
The people have proved his point by making insane remarks and it represents the true nature of the “Patriotic Indian”, who is just using an opportunity to slam the actor. The outrage against Aamir was odd for a nation and an economy that is so smitten by the NRI dream. Students score well in prestigious exams and go to foreign lands for higher studies and don’t return most of the times. They cheer Modi from Wembley,Madison square being NRI’s and are considered “patriots” though not being in the country and also doing nothing for India. Aamir talks about “existing situation” in India and faces flak from protesters even though he has done something for the betterment of the country. This shows the prevalence of intolerance in the country and it has to be seen whether any substantial work will be done by the government to resolve this issue at the earliest.
The silence has to be broken to the question posed by the “SITUATION” and not the person.
