Have you ever been in a situation, where you are just keep on planning for the future and forgot to appreciate the present? Well, it’s a situation that many people go through and have been through. It happens most of the time that we forget to appreciate the journey and experience the best moments we are living in due to thinking and planning to reach the destination at the earliest.

Slow traveling is all about exploring the approaches of the world and taking time to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings. In simple words, “slow travel” encourages travelers to invest more time in exploring fewer places.
And if you are traveling in search of peace, believe me, you cannot find a better way than this. Knowing different cultures, embracing sustainability, and having meaningful interactions with people motivates you to learn the deep lessons of your life.
And it would be best if I say when you don’t plan for tomorrow and just live in the present to the fullest is the actual way of living the concept of slow traveling.

Further, understanding the concept of slow traveling wasn’t so easy for me, however, it wasn’t hard either and posts like this helped me a lot to understand the actual concept of slow travel and why I should embrace it –
Throughout the journey of embracing slow travel, I learned that experiencing the place peacefully rather than visiting many attractions within a certain period is a better approach than merely capturing the photographs of many places without exploring their history and appreciating their beauty.

However, this all taught me to praise journey over destination. However I cannot say that a destination shouldn’t be your goal as without a destination, there is no journey.
For different travelers, both are important aspects of traveling as sometimes, it depends on the circumstances of people, so it wouldn’t be so great to be judgemental about the people who prefer fast traveling.

Further, there are people who want to slow travel after retirement, but, age is not the case in my concept, it isn’t a matter of age, if you embrace slow travel after retirement, you may not be in the situation anymore to explore slow traveling as there is an ideal time to explore everything, whether it’s your journey or destination –
Sure, destination is important, but, what’s more important is to immerse yourself in your journey and understand everything that you encounter along your path and take time to explore what you is in front of you, instead of what’s not.
Slow travel is about focusing on quality instead of quantity. Quality is what gives you peace and comfort, whereas if there is no comfort and relaxation, the quantity doesn’t matter.
Slow traveling made me realize focusing on having a memorable experience is far better than just not having any appreciable experience at all. I realized that if I just think of my work, concerns, and everyday problems, how will any type of traveling make me feel refreshed and like having new beginnings?
The journey should be about the peace and positivity of mind that you have experienced and challenges you faced along your way and how positively you reacted towards those situations but not about the rush and chaos that didn’t allow you to live and cherish your life to the fullest.

Though, it’s very genuine that, everybody works to reach their destinations but for me, a destination is incomplete without an appreciable journey. In reality, people are bound to walk on their paths to reach their goals, now it all depends on them, whether they appreciate the journey or just keep running for the destination hastily.

Further, it’s not just philosophy about traveling but it has actual benefits like you will get to have meaningful experiences, lower stress levels, personal as well as social growth, and deeper cultural awareness.
Overall, for me, slow traveling is all about having sustainability and a more satisfying way to explore the world and its wonders while having authentic traveling experiences.
