Zak Bagans, Nick Groff (seasons 1–10), Aaron Goodwin, Billy Tolley, and Jay Wasley examine rumored haunted locales to gather tangible proof of paranormal activity. The first scene of every episode is the crew touring the investigation site with its proprietors or guardians.

These introductions frequently feature interviews with people who claim to have seen paranormal activity there, as well as voice-overs by Bagans outlining the location’s history.

The team marks the locations of some major haunted paranormal activity and uses black or grey tape during these interviews. Later, they return to these locations to install stationary night-vision cameras to capture them on camera.

The show’s premise is entertainment. The making of the show starts with a 2-day interview of residents and local people living around the haunted location. They gather the history of the haunted artifacts or locations.

On the third day, the team of paranormal investigators without the crew stays in the location overnight. The members then collect all the auditory and visual evidence.

The crew then collects the evidence from the locations. The member claims that they look into this evidence and came up with a logical explanation. The emotions of fear, distress, and anxiety are all real. Then the experts help them verify or debunk the evidence gathered.

The members use various equipment such as a digital thermometer, audio, and video recorders, infrared night-vision camera, and point-of-view cameras. These devices capture the electromagnetic field footage or audio of their ghost adventures.
