SO, basically, music lovers are certainly having a good time out there. And, I am talking about India, especially and essentially.
Music has come a long way. We have gone from the pieces of music that were all “masala” and “desi” to the ones belted out by the really talented music directors in our country, which are upbeat and contemporary, fused with modern-day Western intricacies, like EDM, Hip Hop, with such great pizzazz.
Of them, the one who has managed to capture the hearts of millions across the country, though he is more affluent in the Tamil film industry, is certainly, Anirudh Ravichander. This guy who came into the scene with the heartwarming film ‘3’ and also started on a great note with ‘Ethirneechal’ is certainly a force to reckon with in the industry. However, he is known for his friendly collaborations with other music composers as well.
His recent outing with the classy film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” has turned out to be both successful for him and pleasant and lovable for his fans (me, too!). This one album is a mature work compared to his previous works, which were devoid of those little technical touches, which seem to be plethoric in this particular album.
Since the film is about a love that drives one to do all sorts of crazy things, this album was only fitting for the film, for it evokes the innermost of the feelings of the listener and also might drive you to fall in love – mad, crazy, whacky, beautiful Love! Here are three of the songs from the album that you must listen to; if you love music and also love someone closer to your heart:
1. “Kannane Kanne” – Sung by Sean Roldan:

It is one of the most beautiful Tamil love songs in the recent past, and this song has all the components to help you reconnect with your basic roots of folk, especially if you are from the South. Complete with catchy violins and modern-day alternative rock influences, Anirudh pushes his limits in experimenting, and it is, well, a marvel!
The lyrics are all extremely touching, with all the right notes in all the right places. Beautifully sung by the mellifluous Sean Roldan, with his sweet and strong voice, this song is something that will be cherished in the years to come as one of the best love songs of all time.
2. “Yennai Maatrum Kadhale” – Sung by Sid Sriram:

Sid Sriram has given us quite a few hits in Tamil, with his collaborations with the legendary A.R. Rahman, on the tracks “Adiye” from the movie ‘Kadal,’ and also “Ennodu Nee Irundhal,” from the movie ‘I.’ With this, he strikes another success note, with beautiful imagery of love, that has the power to change the basic tendencies of humans.
If anything, that’s what the title means – “The Love That Changes Me.” One would love this song for the blaring rock elements and the majestic drums, thanks to Anirudh’s brilliant composition and creative instinct, all of which conglomerate to give us a high-on-emotional love track, which would make for a wonderful dedication to that one love of yours!
3. “Thangamey” – Sung By Anirudh

This song is truly a fun song. Completely upbeat with the initial guitar riffs and the proceeding tunes, accompanied by the wonderfully written, comically alluring lyrics about the lovers’ difficulties in expressing his love to his lady, this song has the energy to bring out the ‘in-person inside of you.’ And, the heavy and zany, energetic voice of Anirudh is a bonus, with him belting out the best of his vocal sensibilities, and hence, in the process, establishing himself as one of the best playback singers out there.
Music is a universal language, and it never ceases to amaze me with its wonders. Enjoy these songs, and if you hadn’t heard them before, leave feedback in the comment section below.
