In August this year, six astronauts made history by growing vegetables on Mars (red romaine lettuce) on the veggie plant growth system in the orbiting laboratory in space. But space farming is already a reality that has been made possible by NASA this year.
How Is Nasa Growing Vegetables on Mars?
NASA provides funds to the soil, plants, and climate department director at Utah State University. NASA is attempting to grow food in complex space environments. They have focused on growing some veggies like lettuce and radish that will help recycle water.
NASA had been experimenting with some technologies in space. Most of them have made their way back to the earth and ultimately paved their way to the markets.
