The new parliament was built during Narendra Modi’s second tenure and a whopping Rs 800 crores were spent on the construction of the new parliament building.

Additionally, the building showcases numerous culturally associated exhibits making it relatable to the nation.

The opposition opposed the move by Modi and demanded that President should inaugurate the building as the head of the parliament.

Finally, Modi decided to inaugurate as planned. This led to the opposition boycotting the ceremony.

Narendra Modi however, has expressed his pride in inaugurating the building. He tweeted the same on his Twitter page.

His tweet read,

As the new building of India’s Parliament is inaugurated, our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope, and promise. May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, igniting dreams and nurturing them into reality? May it propel our great nation to new heights of progress.”

The inauguration ceremony was indeed grandeur. Also, Modi had decided to place the historical Sengol from Tamil Nadu in the Parliament Building.

The sengol was a symbolic artifact that the Brahmin community had handed over to Jawahar Lal Nehru on the day of Independence to showcase the transfer of power to Indian.

Over the period, the sengol was left in a museum with the tag of a walking stick.

However, the resurrection of Sengol which is considered holy and proud of Tamil Nadu has gained the respect of the people of Tamil Nadu.

Also, during the ceremony, Modiji was found showcasing respect for Sengol with the traditional way of laying on the ground and saluting.
