Today he is one of the most successful content creators with about 200 thousand followers on Instagram and was featured in โThe Hinduโ and โTimes of Indiaโ.
Residing in the city of Bengaluru, he is known to be quite famous for his vlogs every day. The man started his journey with basic food videos which attracted a huge amount of audience and later started exploring more. Clothing, lifestyle, electronics, travel, anything you name, you can find it on his social media page. Mr. Rithik RS is a classic real-life example of the proverb โ Hard work Begets Successโ. He shares his exciting journey of how he became a successful content creator.
Icy Tales is in a conversation with Rithik RS, who inspires us as content creators to work hard for our dreams in our lives.
Q) What tips and tricks would you suggest to a content creator who just started his/ her career?
Rithik RS โ There are many tips that I can give when it comes to lighting and cameras. The main thing you should keep in mind is you donโt need any fancy cameras, lighting, or any set-up to start. Thatโs where people think that content creators have fancy things otherwise they cannot work.
I do not have any fancy lighting. Make sure your voiceover is in a language where the majority of your audience can understand it. One golden tip I can give you is to start covering content from your locals. Street food content is always evergreen.
If you see my feed you will see a lot of idli sambar and dosa vlogs. This is what will give us the reach. In the beginning, we always get excited and since we donโt have that much experience, people tend to try and vlog fancy restaurants to get โquality contentโ.
As I already said people love local area content. One more trick that gives scope to more audience is covering places from the city which has not been discovered or where the popularity is low. There might be a stall selling excellent refreshments and South Indian foods, but we might never know about it until you go out of your way and explore. Whatever you do keep trying and keep your health condition always in check.
Q) As a successful content creator, do you think this field is a place where one can sustain for the long term, even during your 50s and 60s?
Rithik RS โ I would say age is not a factor. As long as we can shoot videos and create content, age should not matter. One more advice Iโd like to give to my budding vloggers is to have a good sustainable full-time job first and then start content creation as a side hustle. Itโs not only about earning money.
I know people who earn fifty to sixty thousand in just two days after shooting videos. There are times when I earn more than that in a similar situation. What Iโm trying to say is that your regular nine-to-five job must be like your bread and butter.
So there are two things which I keep in mind. Tomorrow if your Instagram account gets hacked, you cannot do anything. That is very important. so my major advice is, donโt just stick to content creation, keep it as a side hustle.
I work from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday, I keep it for shooting my videos. The second piece of advice Iโd like to share is not to stick to just making reels as creating content. try to explore other things. Donโt make a cocoon of yourself and stick to reels, try doing things that others have not done yet.
somedays I shoot with cameras and some days I just use my iPhone. so you can always think creatively in editing and uniquely creating your content.ย some people will forget that they have family and friends in the process of creating content. the restaurant you are going to explore is going to be there even after two years.
Q) How do you face rejections? How do you overcome the thought of fear or being judged?
Rithik RS โ In the beginning, when I was only doing photography some of my friends encouraged me to make videos. I was always camera shy but I started somewhere and thatโs why I have become the person I am today. In the initial stage people didnโt know my name, they used to come to me and say โI know you! โYou make videos about food rightโ
And slowly from there, I started growing.ย I used to wake up early in the morning around five oโclock, and go shoot videos wearing formal. People will laugh at me and say who is this guy formally dressed and shooting videos.
After shooting I reach my office around nine. I finish my work, log out at six in the evening, and start to search for shops to reshoot videos. I did this for three months. It gets very tiring but you canโt expect anything without working hard and everyone has to start at one point and keep going.
Mr Rithik RS motivates us to become a better version of ourselves by sharing his inspiring story with us. His words of encouragement and intention of pushing others to work hard and be consistent in their dreams bring a fire within us to work towards our goal.
