Srishti Sharma studied at BITS Pilani and had no plans that she would ever become a stand-up comedian. She is a Software Development Manager at Amazon and still doesnโt consider herself a full-time stand-up comedian. Even though she performed for the very first time 2 years back it was June 2023 when she started doing it regularly.
โIโve been doing it since June 2023, but for the first time, I tried it 2 years back. It was just a fun day for me so I did it without much thought. My first performance was a complete improvisation, but I still got laughs. I think of it as a lucky day.โย
Sometimes we all try something that we think we can do but we just canโt because we are too busy in our regular lives. The same happened with Srishti, as she didnโt get on the stage straight for 2 years. โThere was a point in my life when I felt like I had no hobbies. So, I started painting, dancing, and also comedy again. I was just trying all of the things but the comedy is where I felt more accomplished. Also, I started getting paid shows very early, which was like a milestone for me to keep going.โ

We all love to decorate our Instagram profiles that look visually appealing, but only a few can do it properly. But once you look at Srishti Sharmaโs Instagram profile, you will just not be able to stop yourself from scrolling down. โTo be honest, I started doing it completely for myself. Every place I visited, whatever I found interesting I make a quick video about it because I want to remember that moment.โย
She has a good amount of followers right now but at some point, her engagement was stopped because of the algorithm of Instagram as it only started promoting reels, and Srishti used to post her pictures in those days. However, after she took her steps into the comedy scene, she began posting reels of her routines and got her engagement back.
โAt some point, my engagement dropped because Instagram used to promote reels and I only used to post photos. Despite having the low engagement I never stopped posting. Then when I started posting comedy, I gained a good number of followers. Now, a lot of my reels are getting many views. So, now I have to be more aware as my account has become influential.โ
โIโm Trying to Explore More Than Exploitโ โ Srishti Sharma
Explore and exploit are two different and important things that every artist should do. But thereโs a huge difference between these two terms and understanding this distinction is essential. Srishti Sharma knows the difference between these two terms very well and applies both in her life accordingly. โIโm trying to explore more than exploit. What it means is that you can either keep writing your things or keep adding jokes, which is exploring. And exploiting is like knowing what works and practicing it until you become very good at it.โย
As a stand-up comedian, one has to keep a balance between exploring and exploiting. Srishti Sharma loves to explore but unlike those who just ignore the truth she knows that she has to work on the exploiting part. โExploiting is something that I need to work on. You have to repeat your jokes 100 times to get it out in a perfect way.โ

And if I can make you laugh about something traumatic, I think thatโs a win for me.โย
