Nowadays, coloring books are popular not only among kids but also among adults. Initially, I thought it was a lame idea to use coloring books as an adult, but my mind never changed as suddenly as it did for adult coloring books.
It is not only a way to have fun, but it also allows me to broaden my creativity, just like kids, and it improves mental health—keep reading to know how. However, initially, it was a little distressful for me as I was worried that if I couldn’t color it properly, it would be quite embarrassing for me as an adult.

But, eventually, I started to enjoy it and completely forgot about worrying if it went wrong. Further, I made silly mistakes while coloring, which was entirely sure. But then, instead of getting anxious about the wrong coloring and what people would say about it, I learned to admit my mistakes and let people see them.

After all, mistakes are common, and everybody is free to make them. Adult coloring books taught me to make mistakes freely without getting afraid. It’s like having a sense of freedom that you get after practicing meditation regularly. So, I can say it is my coloring meditation practice.

Further, coloring regularly became part of my routine, and I began to find fun in it and started to enjoy it, as it gave me peace whenever I did it. I just get lost in the beauty of colors, and my creativity is unlimited when I do this. Eventually, it started to relax my mind, as no unnecessary thoughts rattled around in my mind anymore, leading to calm my mind down.

This is when I realized that art is not just an activity but a mental therapy that gives you excellent results, like meditation. So, why am I linking coloring with meditation? Well, I have tried both, and I won’t say that coloring is better than meditation or vice versa, but I find the impact of coloring on my mental peace as good as meditation.
Eventually, I think both are good therapies to keep your mind at peace. Whether you meditate or color, it works well, but only when you learn to enjoy it.
It is not just peace of mind – like meditation helps our mind to learn and improve concentration, adult coloring books also do the same to us as they have minor details to focus on.
Moreover, I noticed significant benefits in myself after indulging in adult coloring activities, including improved focus, enhanced mindfulness and creativity, reduced anxiety levels, and increased cheerfulness throughout the day.
Ever since I started coloring as a teenager, I have enjoyed it and love this activity more and more every day. It gives me a sense of freedom to color however I want and makes me cheerful, especially when I look at my completed artworks, which often take 2-3 days to complete.
