Last year, in November, the Egyptian Antiques Ministry announced that there might be a hidden chamber in one of the most famous ancient Egyptian tombs, the Tutankhamun tomb. The scans of the king’s tomb showed an evidence of another room within the tomb which is yet to be discovered. Egypt’s tourism minister promised that “it will be a Big Bang – the discovery of the 21st century”.
The hidden chamber is estimated to be situated behind two secluded doorways. The Egypt’s Antiques Ministry also claimed that it might be a resting place of Queen Nefertiti.
Hisham Zaazou, Egypt’s tourism minister, said, “there will be a press conference regarding the new discoveries from the hidden chamber in Tutankhamun’s tomb, the Spanish newspaper ABC wrote. It will be a Big Bang,” he added. The discovery of the 21st century is expected by the Egyptians.
“We do not know if the burial chamber is Nefertiti’s or another woman’s, but it is full of treasures,” Hisham Zaazou told ABC. “It will be a ‘Big Bang’, the discovery of the 21st century”.
Who is “sleeping” in the hidden chamber?
British Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves said that there could be a compartment of the suggested stepmother of the boy king, Queen Nefertiti. However, it is just one of the various possibilities.
Zahi Hawasshas, former antiques’ minister and archaeologist, denies Nicholas Reeves’ suggestion about Nefertiti. Ex-minister believes the mummy of Nefertiti was found among other female mummies in the Valley of Queens. These mummies are currently undergoing DNA tests at the Egyptian museum to prove or deny the identity of the discovered bodies.
Nefertiti and her step-son Tutankhamun might rest in the same tomb.
Some of the researchers think that the tomb of King Tutankhamun may have originally belonged to Queen Nefertiti. However, the early death of the young king (when he was only 19 years old) caused its conversion to his tomb. His own burial chamber in that time had not been finished yet.
The life of Queen Nefertiti is very well known for the changes in the religion direction of ancient Egypt. Nefertiti was a wife of Akhenaten, an Egyptian Pharaoh. This royal couple started a religious revolution in Egypt. At the time of their governance, Egypt had just one god, Aten, or the sun disc.
‘Son of God’ is the son of the pharaoh and his sister
The name of the boy king comes exactly from this god. His early name Tutankhaten means “Living Image of Aten” while the later used name Tutankhamun means “Living Image of Amun”.

Interesting facts are suggested about the comportments of the royal family. Queen Nefertiti was the first queen and wife of Akhenaten. As known, Akhenaten had six daughters with Nefertiti but no son. The question is:
“Who was the mother of Tutankhamun?”.
According to the estimates of the Egyptologists, Tutankhamun might have been the son of the pharaoh and his sister. Incest in that time was (among the members of the royal family) quite normal.
