In a city northwest of Buenos Aires, in the province of Santa Fe, Central Argentina took place “wedding of the century” “wedding of the year” as per Argentina’s Clarin newspaper.
In a star-studded closed affairs wedding in Rosario this Friday, football superstar Lionel Messi tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo. Here’s what makes the wedding so special.

The invite list of 260 guests was full of celebrities and football stars. Among the 260 invited guests were FC Barcelona teammates Neymar, Luis Suarez, and Gerard Pique, who flew into Rosario for Messi’s wedding day.
Pique’s wife, the Colombian pop star Shakira also accompanied him to the red carpet, and Argentine footballer Ezequiel Lavezzi was also spotted plus Cesc Fabregas, the former Barca star was in attendance. His Argentinean teammates, including Sergio Aguero, were also present.

Lionel Messi and Roccuzzo ensured the flavor of the menu Argentinean with meat empanadas and casseroles included in the menu. Add a sushi station to the list, and what more could we ask for? Also served at the wedding were different cheeses, steak, cold meat, pasta balls with mozzarella, bread, and salad.

The wedding took place in City Center Rosario Complex, which contains a five-star hotel and a city center casino. As reported on independent. i.e., “the complex space boasts a bowling alley, tennis courts and both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.”

4. Security
Since the venue was right next to a pretty bad neighborhood, considering the drug gangs based nearby, as well as Messi’s flood of fans, the venue had tightly secured with over 350 extra police to ensure safety at the event. Around 160 journalists were allowed in but with limited access.
