It was three days of peace and music. The enthusiasm of this musical extravaganza has been life-changing for all those who have been there.

It witnessed a mass gathering of nearly 400,000 people in the Bethel Dairy Farm. Though the event was first set to happen at Woodstock itself due to the public protests, it was held at a distance a few miles away from its original decided venue.

The age when hippie propaganda was fueled by the counterculture of ’60s the 3-day music festival was a symbol, a cause in the New York pasture. The exhilaration of pot-smoking urban crowds were invaluable addendums.

Apart from iconic music legends like Joplin, Hendrix, Baez, the total concentration was euphoric above the mud and squalor. It was the way it was the mud -acid weekend. For all those who were there, it was a life-changing multifaceted experience.

The Zen-like ambience was utopic, and it was made into what we can call more than just a rock concert. Owing to all the charismatic bands and people like Creedence, Sly and the Family, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Santana, Arlo Guthrie, Ravi Shankar the music festival took a classic shape.

Fifty years down the line, we will discuss some of the prominent music festivals in the U.S. who are trying to somehow live up to the spirit of “3 Days of Peace and Music.”
