Once you are out of a PG, you will discover the elements of self-pride and self-confidence inside you, and it will give you relief and endless self-satisfaction. Below we will discuss the Challenges Faced by Students as Paying guests. The following are a few problems in PG:

Challenges as A Paying Guest

1. Cooperation

If you are not cooperative, you can’t adjust to a PG. Not only in a PG but anywhere, you’ll be facing hardships and have to deal with endless quarrels. Those people who are selfish and non-cooperative are always neglected and hated by everyone.

So learn to adjust in all areas where you think it’s possible. But always remember not to become so adjusted that you find adjustment even when you’re 100% sure that you’re right and the circumstances are not appropriate.

2. Self-Dependence

You might make many friends when you are living as a paying guest, but somewhere you do feel lonely. This loneliness is felt when you know that your parents are not with you physically. Your parents are not always there to help you out. So you must learn to deal with things all by yourself. Of course, you can take help from your friends, but you can’t trust them blindly or depend completely on them.

3. Age Difference

The major problem one has to deal with in a PG is the age difference. Most of the time, the seniors might try to bully you or dominate you. Don’t remain silent when you know that you’re correct. Learn to be cunning and handle the situation in such a way that you are saved. Never be scared of those who are wrong.

4. Lack of Luxuries

Remember, a PG might not offer you the luxuries that you get at home, like delicious meals, proper facilities, luxurious rooms, etc. Don’t crib about those luxuries; you are not there to enjoy the luxuries but to study and acquire your goals. Every person has to sacrifice his luxuries to become a successful person.

5. Unclean Food

The main problem for PG students is the lack of good meals. In a PG, students normally pay for breakfast, lunch, and supper. These fees are usually pre-paid. However, the mess’s food is of poor quality. Some students become sick right away. This is the most severe and worrisome problem confronting kids. Some prefer to dine outside the paying guest. This raises their living costs. Cooking is the greatest method to cope with it. Learn to cook before going to a hostel or a pg. Also, bring some cooking essentials. It could help.

6. Wi-Fi

Many PG owners promise to provide free Wi-Fi 24 hours a day. But the truth ends up looking to different. The internet is either too sluggish or non-existent most of the time. End result: either pay for personal data recharges or experience a loss of connectivity.

7. Private Life Is Just a Fantasy

This is another issue that students encounter while looking for hostels, apartments, or PGs. Every student needs personal space, so moving to hostels is certainly out. Your personal space is restricted to your bed. You will be disappointed if you anticipate home-like comfort.

8. Savings Problems

Savings is tough while you are away from home, and most students believe this and end up spending money. Most PGs give lunches, but not all. You can’t anticipate meals in apartments since you’ll have to prepare and purchase everything yourself. Also, if you have an in-house meal service, you may not enjoy the food quality.

9. Changing with Individuals You Don’t Like

Everyone is unique, and so are their choices. When looking for PG apartments or hostels, you may not find a roommate that shares your interests. Your choices, habits, and tastes may vary. Your roommate may be your worst nightmare in terms of bothersome behaviors. All of this may be distracting.

10. You Can’t Do Everything You Want

If you assume that as a paying visitor, you would have no constraints, then you are dreaming. PGs have more challenges and constraints than homeowners. Strange limitations include not permitting females or chatting loudly at night.

11. It Affects Hygiene and Cleanliness

Another typical issue students have while looking for PGs, apartments, or hostels. The apartments may seem clean and sanitary in the advertisements, but cleaning is not a choice, and the rooms are quite filthy.

12. Safety Is an Issue

Students, particularly ladies, are always concerned about their safety while residing in flats or hostels, making it difficult to locate a PG with 24-hour security, such as security guards and CCTV cameras in the hallways. Look for them while looking for a PG, apartment, or hostel.

Hostel Problems and Solutions

That was about PGs, but what about problems faced by students living in hostels? Below, I will discuss some reports on hostel problems and solutions.

Every student aspires to attend the top institution in their profession, but they often must leave home to achieve this goal. Many variables drive students to the hostel, including university restrictions, location, transportation, and experience. Students avoid the hostel for a variety of reasons. Here are some advantages of living in a hostel.

I hope this helps you understand college life and its repercussions.

1. Self-Reliance and Strength

Hostel living makes students autonomous and teaches them practically all common life skills, from laundry to buying food. Hostel life also teaches students financial independence. Because there is no one to supervise students in the hostel, they grow mature in determining what they want to do with their life.

2. Learn Time Management and Discipline

In the hostel, students acquire discipline by following the officials’ guidelines. Also, pupils have to manage themselves, like finishing an assignment before the deadline, making them timelier and more responsible. They develop several necessary abilities.

3. Learn to Cope with Failures on Your Own

Hostel living teaches students how to cope with disappointment and move on. The pupils are always supported by their families. But at the hostel, students must confront their own failings. So students become mentally strong.

4. Communicate Well

Communication is the most crucial fundamental skill youngsters gain in the dormitory. Students must converse with cleaning employees, mess staff, detainees, and hostel guards. Communication is vital in a hostel. It is one of the main benefits of hostel living for students. As a consequence, it prepares individuals for various life stages.

5. Acceptance of Other People

At the hostel, students learn to accept people of all races and religions. Everyone in the hostel has the same amenities. As a result, there is no social group prejudice or favoritism. Students exchange meals and enjoy holidays together in hostels. And even share rooms without thinking about social distinctions. Consequently, it instills respect and acceptance for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.

6. Make New Buddies

In a hostel, you need to talk. You live alone, away from your family, and need human connection to survive, so you learn to make friends. Students learn to ask for aid and to help others. Students learn to help others feel at ease when they are stressed. And gradually learn to share their joy and success with others.

Wrap Up

Due to some circumstances or others, students have to trash away their life of comfort and resort to living in a hostel or a PG, but that doesn’t mean the experience is going to be terrible. Try to live your teenage life to the fullest, sure, you’ll have to make some adjustments, but these adjustments will only shape you into a perfect individual.
