India Commemorates Pandit Nehru on His Death Anniversary!

Great leaders are born due to circumstances. They also leave an everlasting mark in generations to come.

The nation and in some cases, the world celebrate their life stories and also, generations of people study them and their leadership.

In Indian modern history, the struggle for independence saw an uprise of thousands of freedom fighters. Few of them lead thousands into numerous movements that crippled the Britishers to quit India.

Amongst these freedom fighters, one name emerged to lead India just after independence. He was Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. He was also called Chacha Nehru.

27 May is the death anniversary of the beloved first Prime Minister of Indi and the nation is therefore paying homage to its leader. Moreover, Twitter is flooded with tweets in his name.

1. Congress Tweets

The political party of Jawaharlal Nehru was the Indian National Congress.

The party took to Twitter to remember and praise the first Prime Minister.  Moreover, he is remembered as a visionary and architect.

The tweet reads, “

We remember Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister and the “Architect of Modern India” on his death anniversary.

A visionary who led the nation to great heights through a plethora of economic policies and industrial establishments. From the ‘Temples of Modern India’ including IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, DRDO, and India’s industrial marvels to India’s forays into nuclear and space research, it was under him that India’s prowess amplified to an unprecedented magnitude.

Today, we cherish the legacy of Pandit ji, who brought India to the world stage as a leading, global power.”

2. Rahul Gandhi

The great-grandson of Nehru also remembered him on this day. He shared a video also along with the tweet. His tweet reads,

“Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s legacy stands tall, like a beacon, illuminating the idea of India and the values he dedicated his life – Freedom, Democracy, Secularism & Modernity.

His vision and values always guide our conscience and actions.”

3. Priyanka Gandhi

Priyanka Gandhi tweeted on the occasion of the death anniversary of her great-grandfather. However,  she decided to tweet the same in Hindi. She tweeted which meant,

“Countries do not rise when a few people sit under the rule, countries rise when crores of people are happy and progressive. We have seen such a dream.” Regards to the holy memories of Pandit Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji.

4. About Jawahar Lal Nehru

Jawahar Lal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889, was a secular, anti-colonist, and a statesman and his contribution during the freedom fight against the Britishers was noteworthy.

He was appointed as the first Prime Minister of independent India and was also the longest-serving Prime Minister of India, moreover serving in the post for 17 years until 1964.

Jawaharlal was considered as a symbol of peace, was a respected and influential leader and was also appreciated for his neutrality during the cold war.

Under his leadership, the Non-Alignment Movement was also started.

His time as the chair of Prime Minister was challenging. The teething issues of a newly independent country and external aggression by Pakistan made his tenure challenging.

Also, his failure in identifying China as an adversary resulted in India losing its territory. Moreover,  It is also said that the loss in the 1962 war is cause of his death.
