4. About Jawahar Lal Nehru
Jawahar Lal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889, was a secular, anti-colonist, and a statesman and his contribution during the freedom fight against the Britishers was noteworthy.
He was appointed as the first Prime Minister of independent India and was also the longest-serving Prime Minister of India, moreover serving in the post for 17 years until 1964.
Jawaharlal was considered as a symbol of peace, was a respected and influential leader and was also appreciated for his neutrality during the cold war.
Under his leadership, the Non-Alignment Movement was also started.
His time as the chair of Prime Minister was challenging. The teething issues of a newly independent country and external aggression by Pakistan made his tenure challenging.
Also, his failure in identifying China as an adversary resulted in India losing its territory. Moreover,ย It is also said that the loss in the 1962 war is cause of his death.
