Tinder, trulyMadly and many more, there are plenty of dating apps and website to help singles get mingled. All you have to do is install the app, log in and BOOM, you enter the world of other single people looking for relationships or whatever it is you are looking for (the most important thing is to be on the same page). The digital age has without a doubt broadened the options to find new people without going out of the comfort of your house. But the real question here is, are the services provided by the online dating apps and websites better than the traditional dating pattern, you know, having your friends set you up on a date or meeting someone at the museum, libraries or malls.

Online dating is just like finding jobs online. You can look up a job on the internet, apply for it, but it is in the offline world that you need to prove that you are well suited for the job or not. Likewise, you can find people online, have a few conversations but to get something long term out of it, you need to put yourself out there, out of the internet, the offline world, and see whether or not the two of you are on the same page and suited for each other.

  • You have the advantage of meeting people who are not physically present in the same geographic area as you.

  • Time is flexible and so is location. You look up for people and talk to them anytime you feel fit and from a, y place you are comfortable at.
  • Online dating gives you an option to get to know about people before actually having to meet them; it makes you comfortable for when you finally meet in person. And if the person is not the kind are looking for, you can save the resources and time by not having to meet them.
  • Most sites offer features which match the likes and lifestyle making the search easier for you.

Disadvantages

  • You can never be 100 percent sure if the profile of your potential date is accurate, unless you meet them in person.
  • The apps and websites can be very crowded and tiring
  • The online dating experience can become addictive to some people who are new to the online dating world.
  • People give up false information about their age, weight etc. and a few bad dates lie this can make you irritated.
