We live in an era where it’s easy to do anything on a virtual platform, which includes making news, event, or a story viral on the web. The internet does have its cons, but there are people who use it for a good cause.

One such phenomenon is that of the ‘No Shave November‘ which has taken the internet (mostly guys) by storm over the past few years. Men, for the entire month of November, ditch their shaving schedules.

While most of us use it as an excuse to keep that beard growing (because who likes shaving, ugh), there is a deeper cause of this movement. Let’s take a moment to know why and take a look at our choice of the best safety razors.

1. An NGO

The No Shave November is a web-based, non-profit organization that spreads cancer awareness among people.

2. The Beginning

Based on the ‘Movember‘ movement of America, the No Shave November was founded in 2009, and it has grown exponentially since then.

3. Where It All Began

The team started off with their mission via your favorite social media platform, Facebook.

4. Supporting Cancer Prevention

The Organization devotes itself to support cancer prevention, research and education through raising funds.

5. The Moto

The aim of No Shave November is to “grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.

6. The Donations

By forgoing your shaving schedules, you can donate the money to the organization for cancer prevention, awareness, and aid those fighting the battle.

7. Who Started It?

Want to know who started it? Well, the Chicagoland Hill family decided to raise money for charity and raise cancer awareness and even spread awareness about men’s health issues. The eight children of the family got this idea after their father, Matthew Hill, passed away in 2009 because of colon cancer.

8. Cancer Research

The No Shave November is funded by many organizations like American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

9. Gender Neutral

There is no such rule that the No Shave November is meant for men. Women can participate too by keeping that razor away, letting those legs and facial hair go natural, and skipping that waxing appointment.

10. Raised Over $2 Million

For the last six years, every participant has donated the cost of grooming, ranging from a few dollars to $100, to the organization. It has raised over $2 million to date.

This is a divine step towards fighting cancer, and we fully support what the Hill family is doing. But not many people are aware of the actual cause of the movement, evident from few memes that trend over the internet. So, the next time someone says something which demotes the purpose, aware them of the reality and encourages them to be a part of this mission and not a mere ‘game.’
