Akansha Wahane is a certified self-care coach and Aromatherapist who’s helping people through self-care and self-healing by making use of essential oils. She has her own brand namely Salome Rituals and is in the process of launching her first ever product.
Icy Tales is in conversation with Akansha Wahane about Aromatherapy, self-healing and essential oils.
Q) Since you are on this beautiful journey of helping people through self awareness and self healing, how & when did you start on this journey?
Akansha Wahane – Honestly, I never thought about helping people I just thought about helping myself. When you deal with a lot of anxiety, mental issues and depression, you feel like you don’t have anywhere else to go.
The thing about me is that, I am by nature stubborn, rebellious and I like to do things for myself. So, I said, no this is not happening and I can’t live my life like this. I have to find a way to do things on my own.
Actually, when I got into aromatherapy I wanted to use essential oils for my skincare because I am obsessed with skincare. So, I was researching a lot for skincare but what I found out literally opened my mind.
These essential oils can do for you what nothing else can do. For people who feel weird going to the therapist like me, like why would you go through therapy. I thought that if these essential oils can help me then why not.
I tried and tried, read a lot of books and I wanted to get certification in that so I got that and then I said now this is what I wanted, this is my purpose.
Q) What do you see yourself doing in coming years?
Akansha Wahane – Right now I am very firmed with launching my own product essential oil roll-on bottle. I haven’t put out anything yet and haven’t posted about it because I have just started.
I started this account because I wanted to see how people respond to what I am doing. Currently, I am just trying to do a little bit of market research as I am in the process of launching my own products.
Q) The process of self healing isn’t easy as we all know. There are stages to it so what according to you should be the first step towards self healing and self-care?
Akansha Wahane – I had read somewhere that write what you know. So whatever I have written and shared, it comes from my own experience, my own healing journey and the first step is self-awareness.
If you are not aware of yourself, if you don’t know what’s going on inside you, you will never be able to change. I am not talking about changing your whole personality, you don’t have to do that. You just have to be your own self.
You need to understand who you are, only then you can heal yourself. Self-awareness is very important without that there is no going forward.
Q) Do you feel that not enough importance being given to self-care, and mental health is an issue in today’s world? What do you suggest, we as responsible humans can do about it?
Akansha Wahane – First of all we need to normalize it. Everyone has issues, anxiety, depression in some form or the other. I am not saying everyone has deep anxiety issues but everyone has some kind of issues.
When women are emotional, people say they are too emotional. But we are emotional and have hormonal issues, which is a fact.
My target audience is women so I am going to talk about them. We change so many times during our month and I think we have to normalize that. When we are on our periods we are super emotional.
I have mood swings and balancing that because of others, like how are we going to show ourselves to others, I think that is the worst thing you can do to yourself. But you can balance yourself for yourself and for your loved ones.
So, I think we have to normalize it that yes there is something wrong with me not in a wrong sense of way but yes there is something going on with me.
I have to acknowledge that and if I can’t acknowledge that, then how am I going to help myself. Everyone should be open to say that yes we are dealing with some issues and we are going to go get help.
Q) Since you are a certified Aromatherapist, tell us how does it work and what does one has to study to become an aromatherapist.
Akansha Wahane – First thing, I was really interested in essential oils. I am kind of a research nerd and I research anything and everything so that is how I got into aromatherapy.
I did many courses online, read so many books and had to research about many essential oils individually. Only with knowledge you become an aromatherapist.
You need to have that drive, knowledge and love for essential oils. Without getting in contact with essential oils you can never understand them. First, I had contact with essential oils and then I researched about them.
I learned about them and I am still learning, it’s like a journey.
Q) Since you are a book nerd, do you have a book recommendations that one should definitely read?
Akansha Wahane – I recently read ” You can heal your life” by Louise Hay and that book is really amazing. She tells us that whatever problems or physical issues we are having are manifested because of our emotional problems.
The emotions we are not dealing with. It was really eye opening for me. Really amazing how she tells that if you are having a cramp, cancer or headache, there is always a reason for that inside your subconscious mind.
We deal with so many illnesses, even in our family and people keep asking why do I have this or why am I going through this.
You have emotional issues and if you can’t manage them, they get manifested into certain illnesses. So this one book is so important and I would like everyone to read it.
You will find that your emotions are the main concern behind it. If you can’t deal with your emotions you are going to get a lot of issues in the future.
Akansha Wahane helps everyone and especially women become emotionally independent through the process of self-care, self-healing and self-awareness. She is looking forward to help more people through her exciting new launch lined up.
