Here are some lessons from life that you must know. Life is a very long journey, and all of us could use some guidance in this journey. Here are some valuable life experiences that taught a lesson. Making mistakes is a part of life, but by learning from others’ experiences we can avoid making the same mistake.

1. Self-Respect Is Not A Compromising Factor
When asked what is the one thing you cannot live without? What will your answer be? Food to sustain, water to replenish, and oxygen to survive are the most commonly given answers. These answers aren’t wrong; we need these basics to survive, but if we are to live our lives, we need Respect. Don’t ever compromise on that.
We make tons of compromises and sacrifices in our everyday life. Some of it we do out of love, and some out of the feeling of responsibility. And at times life throws us out of our comfort zone into situations that threaten our self-respect. What do you do then?
Have you ever noticed, you majorly derive how to treat someone by seeing how they treat themselves? You meet someone for the first time, and if they talk about themselves confidently in an uplifting manner, you build a similar perception about them. You treat them respectfully. Just like that, if a person talks about themselves in a demeaning manner, and allows themselves to be pushed around then you also don’t take them seriously.
You dictate how you are to be treated, and how you are to be respected. This is one of the most important life lessons you’ll come across. You dictate your value.
2. Go With The Flow, All Things Work Together For Good
Sometimes, Life starts looking like a weird, twisted rollercoaster ride that we can neither sit through nor get off of. You know when something bad happens, it’s always a chain reaction, it’s always followed by a series of random misfortunes. It’s like you wake up late, the cookies you put in the oven to bake were burnt, and your boyfriend breaks up with you in a phone call in 7 seconds! And then you ask yourself ‘Oh God! Can this day get any worse!’ and then you miss your flight.
After a day like this, if you can still be hopeful, then please I’ll need the number of the therapist you are seeing. She’s doing an amazing job.
Just go with the flow, All things work together for good. When situations get tough and you are faced with adversities, keep that hope intact. Whatever you think is a curse at the moment, might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Have you heard of the story of the Chinese farmer?
Once upon a time, there was a Chinese farmer who lost his horse, the horse ran away and all the neighbors came around that evening and said ‘that’s too bad’ and he said ‘maybe’.The next day the horse came back and brought seven wild horses with it and all the neighbors came around and said ‘why that’s great isn’t it’ and he said ‘maybe’.The next day his son was attempting to tame one of these horses and was riding it and the throne broke his leg. All the neighbors came round in the evening and said ‘well that’s too bad isn’t it’ and the farmer said ‘maybe’.
The next day the Conscription officers came around looking for people for the army and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. All the neighbors came around that evening and said, ‘isn’t that wonderful’ and he said ‘maybe’.
The whole process of nature is an integrated process of immense complexity and it is impossible to tell whether anything that happens in it is good or bad because you never know what will be the consequences of misfortune or you never know what will be the consequences of good fortune.
But to believe that life works in mysterious ways.
3. Your Mental Health Should Be Your Priority
Take care of your mental health. Hearing this phrase is very weird. Not everyone is equipped to deal with pain. Young people have their problems. They spend time worrying instead of talking about it or confiding in someone.
People spend a huge part of their lives bottling up trauma, And some of this trauma is self-inflicted. A young adult is not thought to deal with tough situations in life, the pain, and the grief that comes along with it.
Falling in love is so hyped up but what happens when we go through a breakup? How to deal with it. How do we live with loss? Losing family and friends. And the truth is no one is responsible for your well-being. Cultivate the habits of taking care of your mental health.
Stay away from negative things. Practice deep breathing. Speak positively about yourself. Mediate every day. Practice patience. Surround yourself with people who make you happy, your loved ones your family members. Write your feelings down in a Journal at the end of the day. These small tweaks in the right direction will change your life.
4. Spend Some Time With Your Parents And Family, One Of The Most Important Lessons From Life
Family is the most important part of our lives because it offers so much love and support, families are crucial. Spending time with family fosters moral development and enhances general mental wellness. Family time is essential for a person’s development since it fosters resilience and adaptation. Family members guiding each other through life’s ups and downs is the only way such important lessons can be passed down. We are who we are because of our families.
Spend time with your parents. As much as you possibly can. The only thing my younger self wanted to was to grow up as soon as possible. But what we don’t realize is that as we are growing up, our parents are growing old. And before you know it, it’ll be too late to spend time with them, cause they don’t have much left.
5. No Matter Who You Are, You Have To Be Financially Independent
Financial independence is crucial. The only thing that is stopping you from doing everything you want, and joying life as you want is Money. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or a boy. Having a fixed source of income, that is dedicated to you and your needs, which you can spend however you want and you are not answerable to anyone is a necessity, not a privilege.
This is a hard life lesson, but you need to acknowledge this. If you hustle now, you can enjoy life in the future. Having your own business, and making your own money is empowering. And we all know that there is no such thing as more money.
6. You Are The Average Of The People You Surround Yourself With, So Choose Wisely
You are the average of the people around you. Everything that you are today is the result of the people you have grown up around and the situations that you have faced. A person born and brought up in an affluent family will have a different lifestyle and different mindset compared to someone brought up in a shelter.
The education that they receive, their food habits, their lifestyle, mindset, and most importantly set of friends, the people they socialize with will be as different as night to day.
Surround yourself with people who bring value to your life. They say if you are the smartest one in the room, then you are in the wrong room. If you are a college student and if you aim to achieve something big and grow to be successful and want to lead a good life, then surround yourself with successful people, these people add a new perspective to life.
Have you noticed, when you are in a group of friends, who smoke? You may have never even touched a cigarette, but people around you just assume that you also smoke. Birds of a feather flock together
It’s just that. If you hang around millionaires, your mindset adapts to that surrounding. Just like that if you hang out with people who only care about partying and enjoying life, you grow to think like just like them.
So choose wisely.
7. You Never Regret The Time Spent Exercising, Reading Or Meditating
This is one of the most meaningful life lessons in life. An average young person, today spends most of his or her time aimlessly scrolling through social media, partying all night, getting drunk, and lying in bed the entire day. These habits have somehow become the new normal.
To listen to people have conversations like,’ hey, I couldn’t sleep all night’ to only get a response like, ‘ that’s nothing, I haven’t slept in a week‘. This constant need to prove that you have more significant problems than the rest of the world. Why have people become this way? Why is cool to have problems?
Let me give you 2 scenarios, you wake up at 2 pm, pick up your phone and start scrolling through reels, then you get hungry and order some junk food, and you feel very lazy, your co-workers call to enquire why you aren’t at work, you binge on the fast food which tv and go to bed at 2 am. Do you want to live your life like this? Is this what you want your future to look like? And after all this, you end up feeling exhausted.
On the other hand, imagine you are an early bird, who wakes up with the sun and mediates and clears your head and spends some time figuring this out, have you ever regretted going for a walk or on a run? do you ever feel bad after exercising? have you ever meditated for 20 minutes and felt like you wasted your time?
When you spend time building a new skill, on your daily meditation, making progress in your path, achieving your financial goals, reading, basically when you spend time to upskill yourself and spend time effectively you never regret it. Regret comes from the possibility of what it could have been.
Recognize your self-worth. Learn early, don’t live a life of regrets, develop better habits and stick to them. Here are good life lessons to incorporate into your own lives.
Learn to live. in the present moment. Mediate daily, Even if it’s only for 20 minutes, doing this brings a sense of self-awareness and inner peace into our lives. Read at least 30 pages every day. Do at least one physical activity a day. Cultivate healthy habits.
8. Be Patient, Live In The Present Moment, If It’s Meant To Be, It’ll Be
Nothing Lasts Forever. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. Saying this doesn’t mean we stop trying. No one knows what happens in the future. Worrying about it, or rushing things won’t fix anything. What is to happen will happen no matter what. So it’s best to follow the mantra, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift, that is why it is called present. To date, this is one of the best lessons that a movie has thought me.
The essence of which to live life in the present, to its full extent, most people can’t stop worrying about the possibilities that our future holds and forget one point that makes life worth living. Live in the moment.
We all have been through situations where we become impulsive waiting for something to happen. Especially with young adults, when we come across success, they are on top of the moon, and when failure hits they are on the opposite end of that spectrum. Such extra reactions for temporary achievements are not necessary. Don’t attach your emotions to material things and material success.
When bad things happen and your worrying is just pointless. So take charge of your own life. The future holds all the answers and with time you shall figure things out. People perceive the worst outcome possible. And even if it all works out as you wanted, it never lasts forever.
So what is the point of worry? So just trust the process, and let life take its own path.
9. What Goes Around Comes Around
Almost everyone has heard these lines, What goes around comes around, That is the circle of life. And also you may have come across the phrase “Karma“. It doesn’t matter if you believe in it or not. It’s just something we will eventually understand. It’s like newton’s law, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
My teacher always says every good deed we do, comes back to us in hundred folds, if that is to be true, then every bad deed also comes back to us in hundred folds. Maybe that’s what we call luck. Your karma comes back to you, in hundred folds.
Perform your duties with pure intentions, don’t worry about the result. Sometimes we do things will pure intentions but it ends up being a disaster. So does that make our actions bad?
10. Maintain Good Personal Hygiene And Groom Yourself, First Impressions Last
Staying healthy is one of the key outcomes of practising good personal hygiene. Maintaining good hygiene makes it easier to get rid of germs and avoid the illnesses they cause. Also, maintaining proper personal hygiene is one of the best tools we have to defend ourselves and others from illness. This entails washing both your body and your hands. It entails taking precautions to avoid sneezing or coughing on other people, washing your hands after touching anything if you are sick, throwing away potentially infectious materials like tissues, and using protection (such as gloves or condoms) when you could be at risk of contracting an infection.
It boosts one’s self-esteem in addition to helping us maintain a beautiful appearance. Hence, maintaining personal hygiene and good health is crucial.
