India is home to roughly 2 million transgender people, and there is no proper education system and training facility available in the country to promote the inclusion of the transgender people in the mainstream society. However, a transgender school opened in Kochi, Kerala, which also is the only Transgender School in the country.
Transgender people are mostly discarded by their families and eliminated from the society. The biological parents abandon the transgender newborn and as a result, most are left with no option but to live a life begging or work as a sex worker in the lack education and opportunity. Knowledge and enlightenment lead the way to a dignified and livable life. An essential device for the disadvantaged, prejudiced, downgraded, and maltreated community is education because education fetches enlightenment, awareness, verity, and self-assurance.

Sahaj International
Sahaj International (a residential school) is the first school in the history of the country devoted to educating the transgender in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. The school works in association with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The center is dedicated to establishing equivalent contingency for transgenders as for everyone else. The school will assist the school dropped out students to carry on their education and take their board exams (class X and XII), which are usually taken at the age of 15-16 and 17-18 respectively. The school also plans to provide some vocational skills, the skills which would further enhance the chances of the transgender people to earn a dignified life and a respectable job to make ends meet. The school also intends to help students in personality development and will help the students earn expertise in the fields of stitching, organic farming and some more.
The school is run by six transgender and a woman under the transgender institution. The school has originally begun with 10 students which also consisted of an immigrant and a differently abled transgender.
