A good breakfast is essential for kids as it supplies the energy required to perform the day’s activities. It has to contain a good amount of protein and carbohydrates.

Skipping breakfast affects both the emotional and cognitive health of kids. Studies have stated that skipping breakfast affects children’s performance at school.

Due to our hectic mornings, preparing a wholesome breakfast could be an arduous task.

Here are some healthy breakfast ideas for kids that can be prepared without any hustle.

Oats

Oats is a nutritious cereal that contains a good amount of protein, vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates and is an ideal breakfast for kids.

Overnight oats

This quick and easy breakfast recipe saves a lot of time and is ideal for busy mornings. It can be prepared the previous night and served for breakfast the next day.

Here’s an interesting overnight oats recipe that would be perfect for a kid’s breakfast. According to availability, the fruits and other flavoring ingredients used in the recipe can be easily replaced with seasonal fruits.

Avocado Kiwi Overnight oats

For this recipe, take 1/2 cup of oats in a bowl and add 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon of chia seeds, and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon powder.

Drizzle 2 tablespoons of honey and mix the ingredients well. Then add 1/4 cup of chopped avocado and kiwi to the mixture. Leave it in the refrigerator overnight and serve it the next day with a topping of cereal and honey.

Baked oatmeal

This is another easy and nutritious recipe that can be prepared using oats. For this recipe, put a cup of rolled oats in a blender.

Blend the mixture for a few seconds and transfer it to a bowl. Add 3/4 cup of milk, 1 whole banana, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, and salt as required. Top the blended mixture with chocolate chips and bake it in the oven.

Oatmeal muffins

To make oatmeal muffins, take a banana in a bowl and mash it until it becomes a paste. Add sugar for sweetness and mix the two ingredients well. Then add 1/3 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of ghee.

Mix them till the ingredients blend. Then add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour, 1/3 cup of oats, 3/4 teaspoon of baking powder, and mix well. Transfer the batter into muffin molds and bake in a preheated oven for about 15 minutes at 180C.

French toast

To prepare the French toast, take a frying pan and add a good amount of butter and vegetable oil. Once it gets hot, dip a slice of thick bread in the French toast batter and coat it well on both sides.

This recipe requires 4 oats, 1/2 cup of shredded unsweetened coconut, 1/4 cup of whole wheat flour, and 1/3 cup of brown sugar.

Put all these ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. In a separate bowl, take 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and add 1/2 cup of honey and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Mix the wet ingredients separately and add them to the dry ingredients mixture. Then add 1 cup of dried cherries or chocolate chips or nuts or raisins according to your interest.

Once the granola bar mixture is ready, pour it onto the baking tray and flatten the mixture. Bake it in the oven at 325C for 40 minutes and then allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Your granola bars are ready to be served!

What about cookies loaded with nutrients and filling and can be given for kids’ breakfast without any hesitation? It sounds amazing.

Chocolate breakfast cookies

For this recipe, mash 2 ripe bananas and add them to a bowl. Then add 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup and mix well.

In a separate bowl, take 1 cup of rolled oats and add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of flaxseed, and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. Mix the dry ingredients well and add them to the banana and honey mixture. Mix everything well.

Divide the cookie dough into small portions and place them on a baking tray. Bake them for 12 minutes at 160C. Once they cool down, you can serve them for breakfast.
